Heav should fire early. No way to know what time wood will go. Doubt they get 4 going. I'm undecided myself. Will check in the morning.
I would do Heavenly. I don't know what Kirkwood will have open but Heavenly should have some good ski treeing. I doubt Mott or Killebrew will pop.
If you want to risk it, you could go to Kirkwood. Six may open but if it does it will be a shitshow.
Heav gondola is running so NV should be ready to go.
I would opt for Heavenly tomorrow and KW on Friday.
Power came back on in TD a few hours ago - that's a good sign. However, hearing Mt. Rose has already called tomorrow off so won't be surprised if it's the same for Alpine / Squaw. Sugar Bowl says they plan to open, or are trying anyway.
Obs from Negro Canyon - https://www.sierraavalanchecenter.or...s-negro-canyon
"Intentionally skier triggered wind slab failure occurred on test slopes but was not as easily triggered as 24 hours prior in the same area. Snowpit data indicated that some consolidation was occurring within the storm snow. Wind slab instability remained ongoing in areas of direct wind loading. No signs of weak layer formation observed in this area 120 cm (4 ft) down on the Jan 9 rain crust."
They were bombing at Sugarbowl from 10am or so to 4.
Power back in kb.
Whoever titled this thread is clairvoyant, ya? Congrats to da leftcoasters
:snowman:
And back off
Thanks for the advice, I'll take it. Looks like Heavenly tomorrow and KW Friday. Will be solo if anyone wants to make some turns / show me around.
anybody in alpine: is the power on? how much bombing did you hear today?
sublime skiing today. sky broke open and was full on ego/hero snow. very distinct density difference from top 6-12" skied like blower on a sponge. bout 4' compressed below top light layer atop weekend rain crust. got no compression failure but the shear was much cleaner today w obvious facets atop the crust. test was at higher elevation today (9,400') then previous ones (8,500-8,800')
i may even go so far to say it was quit your job good if yer not free tomorrow. they have already announced a 4th consecutive snow day for south tahoe kids. that means not getting outta school till late june. what parent will complain about that? hah!!
neufox- edited to say gondola and all nv side already announced to be closed tomorrow at heave

Took the day to tour along the lake and look at the eagles. This is looking back at South Lake Tahoe from the Camp Richardson and Pope Beach area. Great trail breaking fun with some great sun breaks.
Lord. If the gondola was spinning I'd be making laps all day down raley bowl.
Then again, doing the stagecoach/north bowl shuffle all day doesn't suck either.
fuck what I wouldn't do to ski those trees tomorrow.
88 looked closed all day. I imagine a caravan went through, but I'd expect a very slow start at KW tomorrow. I'd probably ski the Heave, but then again I never get over there.
If 6 pops at 11:30 and 10 at 1, I'd consider myself lucky. Though when they do pop, they will be quite excellent.
Yeah.
You will prolly have to rideon HV shuttle to Cali Lodge, rather than jump on Gondi is all.
There is a bus station area just behind Gondi bldg
If Gondi not open take bus to Stage.
all nv side shut down tomorrow. no stage. keep in mind that cali side got played today. its snowing but i doubt a full reset will happen.
Wait, what's going on with this thread? Where can I get sushi, an ortho Doc, and my boots fitted????
