quoted for truth.. can't believe i'm contemplating another pair of skis
and a sick monoski just popped up on kijiji
btw, Tim Kelley as the new minister of propaganda at Jay.. http://www.jaypeakresort.com/skiing-...by-tim-kelley/
just bought a surf-mat for bike touring.. gotta pick it up at a certain VT country store this weekend anyway... oh boy
Vibes Strawjack. Hope you are sleeping and not reading this. Never had insomnia but I imagine it sucks. Can almost get the knee to 60 degrees! If TC can ski with his knee permanently at 80, I just need 20 more degrees, right?
Hope Tim Kelly is right!
Yep, got a set last year and put the 3pins on them. Went with these over the Marquettes cause those things are fkn heavy. They climb like scalded goats! Takes getting used to on the down. I can see where the lurk is useful for turning but not required. Luv the built in skinz.
They would be an ideal access critter for a snoreboarder, strap them to the pack for the down.
If you haven't seen Werner Herzog's Happy people: A year in the Taiga, worth a watch. Here's a pair being made.

thanx for da tunes. akok!:D
the new trail is now complete, but only trimming and deadfall removal were necessary because the fatty will pack down the leaves and snow as good as any rake or leaf blower.
lookin like the skiing or fat bike riding should be great on sunday:)
off to work.....

Pretty simple really, more of a meadow skipper but could rip some nice lines in the right hands/feet.
The inlaid or built skins is a old concept, years ago touring skis had this but with development of waxes, then waxless(misnomer IMHO) it kind of fell by the wayside. I think Madshuss still makes a ski with built in skins. Makes me kind of only take them when conditions are good so I do not tear them up but they seem pretty durable. The short azz(length) takes getting used to so tail gunners beware. lol
All in all a phun tool for da snow. See them as good for newbies too, better than snowshoes. Team them up with yor Fat bike and do some totally human powerd BC adventures.
Some calls them skishoes.
Try them, you may like them.
ScottyB two thumbs up.
ran into this guy in the gaspé a few years ago. epic dude with some karhu(?) "meta skis" with built in skins and a snowboard binding / NNN BC arrangement (?)

Lots of moisture supposed to come through in the next few weeks, if its all snow :

This storm needs to come west a bit:

Edit NOAA Pt forecast is buying into Tim Kelly's hype for tonight:
Occasional snow showers. The snow could be heavy at times. High near 17. Wind chill values as low as -5. West wind around 17 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. Total daytime snow accumulation of 3 to 7 inches possible.

Yes...unless if like 54 and looks really old. :)
2)
Talking about old, some of you might be interested in my latest Ski Mad World post from my personal collection. Vintage Tremblant circa 1953 map.

I wanted to use my 2for1 at Kmart today, but solo drive was going to wimp out the savings. Another year not printing that voucher. The most important stuff is freeing the agenda for next week. Plus I have 2 paid vouchers at Tremblant to use by next Friday.
I'm local this weekend, ski club you know, but not sure where to go Monday. Doesn't look like I'll have to drive much to get some powder. New York, Ontario, Quebec, Vermont? It looks all good.
fired up for this weekend. heading to magic friday night to open the rental condo with the wife and some housemates. the place is so old it needs all new cable wiring from the outside... then may hit Killington sat night/sunday with a couple buddies. been too long for me! a little of the white stuff would be the cherry on top
First sign of flakes in the BB. Hoping for a nice surprise.
On and off snow showers up here by manny all day, starting to look nice. Too bad tomorrow will be brutally cold: High of 3, windchill -34.
Hey DW (or anyone else) - you still want those skis in my basement for furniture?
yo yo yo! Sorry for the hit and run post...balls to the wall at work today. It was more of a joke than anything. I did wake up around 2am. You ever have a dream that is kinda reality? I was dreaming that I couldn't get my pullover off (if I have one weird fear issue it would be claustrophobia...a little anyway) and I wake up tangled in the sheets! Ha!
Then the brain kicks in which is never good. That song kicks in every time. I read a few pages and lights out. I'm good!
thanks though
Celts game tonight to see Doc's return to the garden
the song -
Pico - dont know what the fuck Rog is talking about! that place is terrible>>>
but if you like faceshots on a powder day in full sight of the lodge on last run......
Looks like the upslope machine has turned on today. Anyone on the front lines able to report as to how it's looking? I'm thinking an early morning skin is in order before work tomorrow.
Yeah. Nothing good at Pico.... :fmicon:

Yeah, but Killington has more trails AND more double diamonds!
At the bush we lost 95% of the base prior to this current round of snow. Currently snowing at a good clip with around 7 or so inches at 1800', a good blast of wind around sunset made driving "fun" but the upslope is cranking and should provide a good amount of fresh if it keeps up. All of the snow we have recieved after the meltdown has been blower and requires a careful edge to ski as the slope angle increases. I was picking up a set a of narrow brakes at a local shop this eveningfor my old school carvers when someone came in for a coreshot repair of ski they took 1 run on Spillsville with today. You board, long and wide/low angle.
does seem to be pushing SE on NW winds

BD's compost chips were neither hookers nor blow but something else entirely.
T-O-P edit, listening to Deep Tracks all week while working, lots of amped up guitar work in the 60/70's
