Thanks, Danno. I hadn’t made the efforts yet that you mentioned for this recurring issue on my bibby’s. But I probably will….
Earlier on, I was experiencing the issue on a pair of mantras, I contacted 22D, they promptly responded and informed me about the tape on the top sheet solution, which has worked well for a few skis in my quiver, but not the bibby’s. When I previously contacted 22D, the bibby’s still had 75mm bindings.
Looking for some touring ski recommendations!
Last year I picked up a pair of K2 wayback 96's, with a pair of 22 design lynx bindings. Unfortunately I'm not very stoked on the skis. Naturally they're a lightweight touring ski, so I find whenever I'm trying to drive em, they have a tendancy more to buckle than hold. I thought I'd like the lightweight setup, but if I really need to shave grams, I prefer using an at setup. So I'm thinking of pulling the lynx's off and swapping the waybacks for something stiffer, and preferably wider.
I also have a pair of Deathwishs with outlaw x's (thanks BeHuWe), and those suckers are awesome!
Anyone have any recommendations?
That's fucked up. Maybe this has been discussed a bit, but several questions: what springs are you using (double yellow, stiff solo, stiff with yellow), where did you set your preload, are you using brakes, which boots and size are you using, and binding size?
-Tx comp 27.5/28.0 Shell
-Red (stiff) solo. Has occurred set at 3, 4, and 5 preload.
-no brakes
-L binding
I use the same bindings on my mantra m102’s with double yellow springs w/o problems (with the tape on the top sheet. Use the m102’s in a ton of different conditions, including the same conditions as to when I ejected from the bibby’s. I believe the bibby’s flex a lot more underfoot than the m102’s.
You should look to an On3p woodsman tour. One of the standouts of touring tele skis.

Damn, I am stumped. That would have to be a lot flexing, but I guess that makes the most sense.
ETA: with just the red spring solo and no inner yellow spring, I guess I'd just confirm that you reversed the centering screw (action starts after 1:00 and I'm 95% certain that this is required for either OG Outlaw or Outlaw X).
How attached are you to the Bibby flex under foot? Perhaps an experiment with a plate/riser to decrease flex?
Well, I’ve never done that flip the torx screw trick and had no idea it was needed. I have outlaw x’s…. I’ll look at the system more closely.
PB, not sure about my marriage with the flex underfoot of the bibby’s. The flex idea is a spitball. It always seems to happen to me as deep snow transitions and thickens, which, for me, is a condition where the bibby’s shine.
Thanks! I’ll give it a shot.
New boots have been starting to hit the stores. If you intend to get in them this season, and didn't pre-order I'd work on sourcing. At my "local" tele shop every boot they got in was spoken for by pre-orders and I expect similar at a lot of shops.
yeah they showed up at The Backcountry yesterday and all of a sudden a bunch of wookies were frantically trying on boots
we sold four pair before we even got them checked into inventory
I bet we will sell a few this weekend
some stores pre sold everything they ordered
if you want some don’t wait
Happy to hear it. Though I won’t be buying anytime soon, the boot is exactly what I was hoping for. Glad it’s selling.
I’m waiting for the new TX comps, but in the meantime I’ll be following the user reports as these get used by the millions of telemarkers out there.
Same, but also trying to get more wookie for future purchases.
Also eagerly anticipating the new TX Comps. Although I think it will be harder to significantly improve on the Comps than the Pros.
Any body else interested in the new 22D Bandit bindings?
we got the TTS Transit 2.0 binding in too
here’s the size chart for those
https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...f0f4b321f9.jpg
26.5 new TX Pro is 299mm BSL - anything smaller than that should be in the Small, as the Large would not allow you to use the back wire position
brakes aren’t that hard to change on Outlaws, so Bandits should be ok
I agree, it’s very simple for the outlaw. Bandits look pretty different in the videos and photos. Spring thing in the front of the binding and all. Would be great if can easily swap bindings and brakes between wide range of ski widths.
oh I haven’t seen the Bandit yet…
I haven’t fondled either.
I really want to see if the brakes truly retract. In the 22D catalog they call the outlaw brakes retractable and anyone who has used them knows they really don’t retract.
If they do I’ll likely grab a pair for this season.

Lots of squabbling over on EYT re retractability. Current consensus has settled on: they seem to retract with a boot in the binding but do not appear to if you just force/lift the brakes up. They're supposed to show up in November - until then it's mostly conjecture.
I was perusing those threads as well. Lots of very opinionated people riding around on broken bindings.
I hope the bandit sells well for them and it can usher in more people to tele/ntn. Couple that with a new resort boot and maybe we’ll see a more noticeable rise in tele popularity

What brake on the bandit for a Kendo 88? Stretch an 80, or go 95? Does anyone besides 22D know?
I would go 80. For my outlaws I have 95mm brake on wren 102, 110mm brake on Jeff 110 and 110mm brake on Jeff 118.
May just be a personal preference but I like the brake to be as close to the boot as possible and away from hanging out too far.

kinda like ski bindings…
oh wait - these ARE just ski bindings? you can just do what you’d do with “regular” bindings? weird
I’m sure you can bend the brakes 4mm each side with no trouble but you might find they stick out at a weird angle and actually get more in the way than a wider one that’s not bent, or not function right if you don’t bend em properly and fuck up the mechanism
Wondering if Scarpa bumblebee T1s 25.5/26.0 will fit in Small Vices. 22D says small is up to 25.5. Anyone here know for sure if 26.0 will work? I'm only intermittently freeing the heel, hence I lack the wisdom of the hard core fulltime tele experts here. Thanks!
Also, for those with inserted skis for 22 Designs the Bandit puts pin line/tech toes line 1.3 cm forward of the Outlaws. Just something to be aware of, but it's largely why I am not going to be picking them up right away.
Charles my note in gear swap about just being able to swap the heel tubes is apparently wrong. There is a bit more to it to convert small to large and Vice versa (pun intended)
So according to the FAQs on 22D’s site. Boots slightly larger than a 25.5 will fit a small Vice. You’ll just have a bit of less spring travel than with the large. They will feel more “active,” but you also have 3 pin settings to dial back the activity if they are feeling too stiff. My take is that you’ll be fine w a 25.5/26.0 Scarpa shell with a small Vice but I wouldn’t say the same for a 26.5/27.0.
I welcome any feedback from anyone that has actually skied this combo. I am a 26.5/27.0 and larges are great. Never tried a small.
Posted my Question about brake size to 22D and the reply is:
I would go with the 95's, they should still retract over the top sheet.
The brakes retract 12mm on each side, if that helps.
You can always bend the brake wire in slightly if you feel that you need to.
For those looking for the new Scarpa TX Pro Scarpa is now listing a full range of sizes available.
https://us.scarpa.com/tx-pro-mens
Signing up for their email used to get you a coupon, I do not know if that is still happening. Den
Never noticed that the brakes retract 12mm on the forums.
Scarpa shows size range but they still haven't told us what sizes fit into what size bindings.
