Sweet, thanks. How’s the riding? Worth the effort or best to wait until making it up to the top is a sure thing?

Never ridden the ridge or offshoots, spend most of my time up there hiking.

The BM ridge isn't worth it unless you just want to suffer. It's steep with brutal bits but all rideable between the start of Terror and the start of 70s Bush (which is probably super wet right now, although I haven't checked). I wouldn't bother going above that (6600'), the section to Rook Pt is unrideable, pure sand/gravel for about 1300' in under a mile. I hate it even on foot, and it's shitty riding on the way back down, you're mostly trying not to lose the front while burning through brake pads. Past Rook Pt is "rideable" since it's mostly flat but there's a lot of low-speed chunky tech and it gets brushy.
I pushed the bike all the way up to Little BM last year, mostly cause I'm a glutton for punishment, and it was hateful. Ended up poaching the Smuggler trail into upper CityCreek as my harebrained idea didn't pan out. That was a relatively entertaining bit of trail and I was lucky enough not to run into anyone (it's closed to bike but I don't think it sees much traffic) but I wouldn't recommend it, once you're in City Creek you've got nothing to ride but pavement.
There's some potential for really cool skidders from the top of Rook Pt into the the N Frk of City Creek, they would eventually connect with 70s Bush but would require extensive de-bushing. You can also bump in the S Fork of CityCreek from there, I've done it on foot, there could be a beauty of a trail in there (tentative name: Ron Jeremy's Moustache) but it would take work and piss of some hunters, I've found game cams and shelters in that drainage.
Passing along the free raceface tailgate pad I got from yukonrider. Fits full sized trucks, no straps, well loved. Come get it

Not mountain bike content, but photo for reference. Snow at the top of city creek road.

That was right at the end. I made it all the way up, stood the bike in the snow and alwalked the last 50 feet. You can ride across the bridge right near the top. And this was Thursday, it will be a bit more clear today. Go for it! It is my favorite road ride in town. Attachment 459056
Has anyone explored Hobble Creek or Diamond Fork yet this year? Route 6 udot cameras look dry until Soldier Summit.
Not this year... If there's no snow on the sat pictures it's time to go, get it before the motos and the cows take it over! Unless you're going on the moto, in which case, well, get it before the cows and the bikers get there!
I'm exploring a whole lot of this lately:

Rode the new N Canyon to Mueller connector tonight, from Wild Rose, it's gravel-bike heaven. So smooth and mellow, yet super fun. No gnar to be seen, barely a rock, but damn is it fun to haul ass on decent flatish dirt without having to push 200W up a near-vertical trail before losing 1000' in a mile.
How bad are the bugs? Looks like fun if you don’t come back looking like I do after an antelope island evening.
I rode North Canyon and Mueller Connector tonight. As Boissal said, mellow but super fun and in great condition. No bug issues at all. Good early season trail to get back in shape while other stuff melts out.

Blame our hat. Fires in Squamish caused by unattended campfires

RE: Hobble Creek - USFS has the road closed just past the frisbee golf and Jolly’s ranch camp area. Road damage and high runoff further up the canyon. Sign showed it closed all the way to Diamond fork. No public access (foot, bike, car, etc).

I went and rode The Punisher in the Lake Mountains. That shit was sharp!
On a very related note, it turns out you can ride out on a flat with Cushcore.
^^^Nice!
The worst ones are well north and inland, mostly what's getting us right now.

But yeah, either way we're pretty fucked for a while, prolly all summer.
I used to not really mind but an AQI of 100+ is a hard no go for me anymore. Even 80 has me wheezing and coughing.
That's some serious gnar!
Cmon down to the Pacific Southwest!

oh the air quality felt great mashing up to lost dad...tio b's running good. Arcylon zone gtg. Moose looks likely this week. Bobs b gotta be gtg by now. PC gonna be at around another 2-3 weeks up to the Yurt and down guessing. mid july for crest????? guards, bri, honey 1st week of Aug??? place yer bets.
Arcylon zone is not gtg. I ventured up there this morning. Sloppy and greasy in many spots. Some trenching and destruction on lips and berms. There are some spots you can sesh, but bring a shovel and leave it better than when you arrived.
Bob's basin is running great. It will be tacky for the next 32 mins and then be loose and blown out the rest of the year.

Parrish Creek is looking about two weeks out.
yep done a lot of work up there tuning jumps the last few years with one of the OG builders...was a shame Arcylon went almost 4 years with no maintenance...jumps were fading away.... Now is the time to get up there and ride/ tune jumps while theres moisture....any lips, landings, berms that are south facing are already dry and crusty. Greasy spots will buff out. Arcylon zone needs people up there NOW riding AND tuning. ....totally agree if you know what yer doing bring a shovel and leave it better.
Basin Rec needs to start organizing volunteer dig days for this zone....like now.
I’ve got a buddy coming to visit and ride for five days this coming weekend, and want to show him what the Wasatch dirt is all about.
He’s a pretty good enduro rider, prioritizes the downhill riding experience. Not looking to go for an XC ride but willing to pedal for hours if the descent is worth the slog.
Where should I take him? So far I’m thinking shuttle laps on Bountiful B and Maple Hollow, maybe Parrish creek if the snow melts enough, Bobsled and I-Street…
What other ripping descents should be ready to rip by next weekend? We’re willing to drive a ways if it means better riding.
The foothills trails around downtown are already moondust. Hopefully we get some rain this week. All the Corner Canyon/Alpine trails are open and the dirt there retains moisture a bit better. Higher elevations are rapidly melting by the day so good to keep a close eye on conditions.
Spend a couple days in Moab and Richfield. ...all the good Wasatch dirt is still buried under 20 ft of snow.
Bountiful B, Lost Lad, Tio Bob's, Bobsled, Terror ridge, 70's Bush, Mt Van Cott, Istreet, Arcylon, Dead Reckoning, Jacobs Ladder, Secret Jacobs, Baylock, Levitate, Flinstone, Shooting Gallery, Possibly High Star Ranch(although might wanna check on that), Possibly Mooseknuckle to Alexander Creek(although might have trees down), Ogden bike park, Trailside, Bobs Basin
I know they still havent opened the gate yet to run shuttles think they said maybe this weekend tho...can check their facebook page for updates https://www.facebook.com/groups/1336675643043114/ ....looks like lower and mid spinal tap will be gtg. Not sure about Red Canyon....we rode it last spring in April there was a lot of water damage but it was still fun for being the first time riding it. Theres a recent report May8th on TF saying some water damage from the runoff
Oooooh yeah, jankiest pointiest stuff I've ever ridden, so fun! Did you push the bike up? Not really any other viable options given how far it is to loop around, and at least you get to look at all the features.
Gravity Well to Punisher to Alien v is the money loop up there, so many ways to destroy a bike over maybe 10 miles...
Nope, I was on my emtb and rode up the dirt road to the top and boondocked it along a grassy ridge to the top of the punisher. Definitely not an approach I would do without a motor though.
I was hoping to hit Gravity Well and Alien too, but my destroyed rear tire had different ideas in mind.
REDACTED
Glenwild loop is past hero dirt and dry.

FYI, organizing a dig day for Arcylon zone this week and it looks like *tomorrow* Wednesday will be the day after work. from around 4:30-8:30. Bring a flat shovel and rake if interested....cleaning up berms, landings, lips and tamping etc. ....and hopefully ride sesh a few things after. Rain or shine.
I was up there with shovel this afternoon. Put a couple of inches of dirt on the lip of the first triple on dead reckoning. If we can add just a tad more pop to that jump it will make the whole trail better. It started raining hard around 5:15 so I bailed. Was sunny and dry by the time I made it home.
The weather has made the trails so tacky and the foliage so green. Little quick morning ride in the north. Crazy how the Weber river runoff has changed parts of the trails.

Red Canyon was $$$$ last weekend (5/21/23).
Enduro team is doing trail work in Lake Mtns, building a climbing trail to top of Overwatch area, consistent 7% climb instead of that horrible 4WD road.
The southsatch was super fun sat PM/sun AM. They just need some restaurants or breweries down there that sre open Sundays https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...7be31d6668.jpg
