Line art is great on veneer - Ibex, Tsunami, etc.
Solid colors end up being a bit muted, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. For example, I much preferred the Max theme on my Qs (over photos of it on nylon), and the OG GPO graphic is great.
I usually tour in the 180 range, and love my 173 EXPs that I got from @grinch.
One common complaint with light, mid-80s skis is that they don't do Spring glop well. The EXPs exceeded my expectations - just drive the tip and they bust through.
The EXPs can bend a tight arc and hold an edge on harder snow. I know some folks prefer long radius skis for jump turns in couloirs. I can't comment about this or compare the two design approaches
I don't have a remote temptation to seek out a Zero G 85. I can't imagine a better ski than the EXP - different maybe, but not better, and I'm OK with the weight. If I were to do anything, I'd shave 150g by going from Plum Guides to some light ATKs.
My 173 EXPs (veneer, flex #3) come in at 1425g. I'm 5'9, 165#
I usually ski a flex 4 in Praxis.
