Thanks...the red absolutely glows in the sun, and I got the dealer to throw in the wheel upgrade ($450) for free. Unfortunetly, I had to pay MSRP for the bike and other options. I looked around and it is almost impossible to get a Harley dealer to give a discount on a bike, especially with the popularity of the Street Glide...I guess it has been Harley's most popular model since 2006 and the dealer only had three for the rest of the year...well, two now ;)Quote:

Yes, but it wasn't that bad, just on the descent to Ferron. We got a little lucky in that the black dirt sections of the ride stayed mostly dry and we were just ahead, or just behind most of the rain.Quote:

I hope i don't cause buyers remorse but did you consider the "Sport Touring" bikes like the FJR or ST or the new Concours?? I have an '07 Yamaha FJR1300. I just got back from Canada for 2400 miles roundtrip, and I've done almost 8000 miles since 1st of June including 3900 miles from the East Coast to Utah. 145hp plenty of tourque, R1 brakes, shaft drive, woot!Quote:

Just bought a brand new wr450f. Thought i should step into the realm of big bore's.
Had a monkey on my back all summer to ride over Cascade Peak to link up some vital single track on the way to Hobble Creek. I've hiked up one side and ridden my bicycle up the other, today was the day for the moto.
Up Squaw Peak Road to the Rock Creek Campground. After 0.5miles, hang a left and climb a steep, loose, narrow, over grown trail up the the ridge.

Into the parking lot, then immediately back up towards Lighting Peak. There's a long stretch of super narrow, over grown single track that has plenty of loose rock. Hold on, hope for the best, eventually you get out of it.

20 miles of the slowest, most exhausting single track was followed by a casual 50 miles of ATV/fire roads back to the car. Never new 70 miles could cause so much exhaustion.

And Tip, the GT is 150 hp, dont know where you got that graph, allthough I only use it on the straights to make up for my poor cornering, the bikes a bit heavy in the twities.. I ride with abuddy who has a Triumph sprint, great bike.
I dumped the gs because it was too heavy but I got a smoking deal on the gt. 5k off. Id have gone for an S or Tuono but Ive broken my right arm 3 times, skating and skiing as a lad, so anything over an hrs ride, the GT's cruise control is nice to have.

Hey Trackhead...Keep it up man. That is what riding a bike is all about. I am super jealous as I do not have a dirtbike right now. I grew up riding stuff like that in and around Silverton back in the 70's. Prolly all wilderness now.

- Throttle cable. Takes up little space, weighs nothing, unlikely failure, but....
- First aid kit. Duh. Matches and junk. Ibuprofen.
I carry a LOT of junk, but I ride alone a lot, too.
Any CO/Front Range people up for some nasty singletrack in late September/early October?

It's like god is telling me I have to get a dual sport. Just got a call back from my mechanic and apparently one cylinder on my ninja 250 has zero compression and it's looking like it probably needs a new engine or at least top end. Grrr....
No buyers remorse so far. I actually really love it. Nothing against others choice of bikes, but I have just never been a big fan of the sport touring genre....and I am sure they don't even come close, but the 2009 touring frame actually handles suprisingly well. It is fun in the bends and confidence inspiring..at least as much as a cruiser can be.Quote:

First let me say that there are some incredible bikes in this thread. And far to many of them I would make space for and welcome into my garage.

IMO, YetiMan gets the award for Ghetto soul with what has to be
the most badass interpretation of a Yamaha 650 special I have ever seen.
It may be the cheapest Yetiman but it's got a ton of rolling steeze. :yourock:
