I got ModeRNA shot number 2 on Wednesday evening. I ran a mild fever and felt pretty lousy yesterday.
I feel fine today. My 5G coverage is top shelf and my Bill Gates microchip booted up smoothly and paired nicely with my phone.

If a vaccine (J and J) prevents severe disease and keeps infected people out of the hospital but doesn't keep people from getting infected, in the long run is that good or bad in the long run. Since a lot of those mildly to moderately sick people will be exposing unvaccinated people?
It’s confusing to me that a vaccine would have a range like that. I’m sure there are others w similar antibody response but I’ve never heard a vaccine describe like that beforeQuote:

One reason we are relying on symptomatolgy and not measuring infection rates after vaccination is because of the emergency use permission. We will know more about infection probabilities post-vaccination later, but it's not the critical endpoint. With a longer reporting and application timeline, we would have a better grasp on this possibility (we still will, just not for a while). And that's why we will need to continue masking and social distancing even after vaccination.
As old goat said, it is really unclear at this point whether someone who has been vaccinated and is exposed to SARS-CoV-2 but doesn't develop COVID symptoms can still transmit the disease (like the asymptomatic carriers we've all talked so much about). It is very generally thought (assumed?) the more severe your symptoms (or at least past some undetermined threshold) the more infectious you are. It follows that someone who has been vaccinated with the J&J vaccine, exposed, and develops moderate COVID symptoms would be more contagious than someone who was vaccinated with the Moderna or Pfiezer vaccine, exposed, and doesn't develop symptoms.

My mom gets her first vaccine today. While I'm happy for her individually as my mom, I am extremely disappointed that someone like her is eligible to be vaccinated this early in the process. The selfish generation strikes again.
Update 48 hours later. Felt awful the first night, fever, chills, aches, bad sleep. Slept most of the next day with aches and malaise. Woke up this morning feeling 95%. Call it 36+ hours of feeling crappy for some level of immunity. I will take it.
My day to day won’t change as my wife isn’t vaccinated for quite some time. It will give me a bit more peace of mind when working with sick patients or that asshat at the hardware store that won’t mask up.
Wear your mask, be safe, and get the shots when you can.

What worries me is not so much vaccinated asymptomatic carriers--presumably these are people who do not have replicating virus--but those mildly to moderate J and J vaccinees who think they just have a cold, since they've been vaccinated, and decide to go into work or out clubbing. As long as the virus is spreading and replicating it is mutating and at some point we are back to square one.
Got an interesting email from Kaiser--25% of the population of california are members, Kaiser got 5% of the allocated doses. Not enough to even vaccinate its workers (most of whom are members). That has to be a deliberate decision from someone at the state level who has a grudge against Kaiser.

She sounds like a winner. The only thing she did that was smart was to marry a guy who worked in oil and gas. I don't think she overcame adversity, more like she found a sugar daddy.
Edit to add: I don't think pit bulls are inherently a bad breed. But people like this who own pit bulls are why the breed has gotten a bad name.
