I'm thinking a balsamic vinaigrette, tending toward the OO side. For me, broccoli has an affinity to OO
So I know that cutting and pasting recipes was demeaned in another thread, however, I aint no chef. I cooked this up last night (used dried parsley and basil and excluded the pine nuts) and it was great!

Served that with a side of roasted asparagus that I roasted in the oven with the rest of the veggies. Ended up being a nice light dish, which I was looking for considering how summer-ie its been round here.
cooking geeks:
I need some olive oil help. We buy the big jugs at Costco, which are great, cheap, and not strong flavored so can be used for pretty much any cooking task. But the non-strong flavor is a detriment when I want some big olive oil flavor, like in a dressing or a light drizzle on veggies. I realize that I could spend gobs of money on some fancy single vat one orchard artisanal made with unicorn tears olive oil, but is there a store bought brand that isn't too expensive that y'all like from a flavoring POV?
Buy the big thing of cold pressed evoo from costco.
Edit: (not the last one i bought, but similar)

That looks more like the one i actually bought from them. Do/did they sell into costco at some point?
Been buying my balsamic vinegar from these guys here in Littleton (although they do seem to have a Denver location too). They've got a nice selection of olive oils too. http://evoomarketplace.com/
My favorite of all time was this killer spanish olive oil that we bought from a winery that we were getting a bunch of garnacha from a couple years back. It was game changing olive oil for me. I had no idea they could taste like that having mostly just had cheaper bulk oils like our go-to costco one.
That's what I use for flavor EVOO too.
We have a local family that makes some great oils. I buy it when I see it at the market.

We've long been big fans of a Kalamata oil that Trader Joe's carries. I agree that most of the time the prolifically available products are without flavor. This stuff actually tastes like, well, olives (!). We cook with it, dress pasta and salads, all-purpose. 750ml for $8.99 and we get several at a time.
They have the Olio Nuovo from California Olive Ranch. Really good, especially considering the price. It's seasonal, so I stock up whenever they have it.

Their Toscano isn't quite as good, but it's a solid choice for salads and such. The big bottle of Kirkland Organic is supposedly "real", so it's not a bad choice for cooking.
