I had a pass this year but ended up in Taos most of the winter. I'll be there in a couple yrs when I am hanging back east w mom.

I assume you’ve skied Mad before but I think it’s a great spot if you can put in a lot of midweek days. Those lines can get pretty long on weekends. If I lived closer or had more flexibility for m-f i’d give it a nice look for sure
Yeah I'm midweek only. Weekends rest. Ski areas are bonkers weekends.
Bitd it was a skinners paradise pre season. Like 10 of us . Now every run has 30 tracks on it pre opening anytime it snows. Life.
yeah. those were good days.
also true at every ski area that has early snow.
Only issue was trying to beat Dickie
December 2011. Plenty of tracks but still a lot of good snow.

Is Dickie Hall still around? Back when I was a knee-dropper he was the guru.
i got the midweek pass several years including the covid-shortened 19/20. since then i became averse to longer drives.
ironically i made two late season treks to MAD. did a pow day that stretched my usual 2:40 drive time to 4hrs there/6hrs back...and the eclipse that required 6hrs for return trip.
both days received my 'well worth it" rating.
the pow day was possibly my best ski day in several years.
and yes, best to avoid the weekend liftlines. midweek pass is a great deal.

I’m thinking of coming over to SoVT to pickup The Kid and go to this. Maybe some Superstar turns on Sunday. Hmmm…
The Londonderry metro area
^ 'xactly
Londonderry has a full service grocery store, a gas station, a bank, a hardware store, a NAPA, and at least 4 sit-down restaurants. In VT, that’s a metro area.

Not stirring the cauldron... but ostensibly, a "Metro" area usually has a subway or train station
ETA PTT
^^ c'mon! mniaw said 'for vt'
how many 'towns' in VT have you passed through that are little more than a traffic light, a gas station and maybe a small eatery?
londonderry also had a full size supermarket and thai food (assuming place is still open - i sadly never made it to magic or bromley this season)
Yeah, I caught the VT part after the fact... but nope. Could possibly have been referred to as a Whistle Stop. Alas, no whistle
Could we settle on village?
Londonderry has a train station. It's not operating any more but it has one.
Nowhere in the Census Bureau's definition of a metropolitan area does it mention rail service.
Londonderry doesn't qualify according to that definition but in Vermont, we do things a bit differently....
Londonderry only has a flashing light at the corner of VT11 and VT100
Is Rawsonville a village of L-Derry?
Rawsonville is part of the greater Bondville metro area.
Hmm, it’s not in West Jamaica either?
Rawsonville is a village of Jamaica
ha! *this* is why killington needs to run the SSQ *every* day in may:D
^ It was raining out all morning and now the black flies are unbearable so couldn't do anything outside today.
^ i was blaming gepeto for getting me started.:D
