No, it's not in Montana. Figured I'd spice up the Bridger thread a little.

Jeremy Jones would have been proud, buddy. Good work up there yesterday.Quote:

damn tone, those pics are looking sick. I need to go ski with you boys sometimes, the usual crew isn't real big on the whole "not off bridger lift" thing
Hopefully things line up so we can keep skiing the good stuff!
Glad you liked the pics. Shoot me a message when your motivated to try something new.

Anyone heard about Stepping up 2.0? MT, care to elaborate?

It may have been people using the traverse that patrol helped build to get people quickly from the lift unload directly to the ridge at the low point for the hike out to the boundary and Saddle Peak.
That is why they shoveled the snow there at the unload and why they maintain it further out. It's not about "No traversing anywhere any time"
It's about trying to figure out where to put just one that makes sense and has a pupose without wrecking acres and acres of awesome terrain.
If you have any suggestions on how to end what is detailed partly in my picture, tell Griff. He's the man. He is going to make bomb craters on the ones that go out and cross the rock face! I really feel like we can have a better ski hill if we can solve this problem.
Tone,
I agree. Bomb holes and traverses to rock will help stop the madness.
The upper traverse going to the ridge is nice, and necessary IMO. The lower "I don't want to side-step or take my skis off" puss out is exactly that. A puss out.
Friends don't let friends rape Mundy's.
That's cool man. I'm glad you see that the one up high is helping.
I saw four people in a row almost die on the one that crosses the rocks, I shit you not.
Then patrol told me they saw people taking their skis off and walking back from above the BIG rock!
I understand when they tell me that no matter where they put the rope, it seems like people are going to traverse the shit out of it.
Oh well, they did say they are open to suggestions. I think a rope just to keep people off the steep rock face only is the best thing I can think of at this point. There is no way to stop it in the bowl, it is always gonna get raped like that.
EDIT: Nice daily vid today. People rippin the one inch, yeah!
Couple weeks ago I saw a dude compress on a whooptie of one of those middle b.s. traverses and tomahawk over the treed cliff... lost all his equipment in the tumble. Best fall I've seen yet this year.
On the same note, been hearing more of "I scared the shit out of myself on slushmans" from a few of the weekend-only types. Good! The attitudes are aligning in our favor, I think.
Now we just need some of Utah's snow.
South-facing stuff is holy-shit-gonna-die not fun icy right now. North facing stuff skis with the consistency of a Dairy Queen Blizzard, smooth in places and then *THUNK* you hit a big chunk underneath.
The snow we got was nice, but we need about another foot to make it a lot more fun again.
Ropeline+pass pulled for two weeks for crossing. End of story.Quote:

What they say in the Moonlight "Alpine Ettiquite" section of their trail map. Quote:
"Please ski the headwaters terrain from the top. DO NOT traverse into this area."
There are good reasons for this rule. Please mention to patrol whenever you get the chance and help put an end to the desecration.
When can we start laughing about the drought?
Maybe I need to leave town for a little while, and remember there is more to life than skiing bumps on the "beacon only" lift.
Anyone want to burn some skis to appease ullr? He is apparently not happy about us getting the lions share of pow last season.
Maybe the folks down in jackson sacrificed a pig to ullr?
By my calculations, which include the over stating of two "6 inch" days, we have had about a foot of snow in a month.
January 11th to Feb 12th.
When it's over?
Yup. If you want to get really depressed, go calculate how much snow Alta got in that same period.
Also, I would like to apologize to everyone. When I returned home after the holidays, I found that my parking spot had been plowed in. I called my landlord to complain and see what could be done. A week later, it was decided to remove all the snow from my lot and it hasn't snowed since. Clearly, I am responsible for these events. I hope you can all find it in your hearts to forgive me.
Man, i have been laughing about this drought for quite a while now. I'm still convinced that it is never going to snow again here.....
HAHAHAHAHA I remember when people were talking about how unsafe it would be to ski Slushmans alone.
Right now it would be like:
"Help Help, I'm buried in beat crusty moguls!"
EDIT: So much fun in the sidecountry today. Amazing how good things can be there with only subtle changes. Good times.
Another beautiful day in paradise. Fun day exploring some new stuff.

It's snowing in those pics, is that last season?
The pics by mtcham are from yesterday (Saturday, 2/14/09). Very good times and surprisingly good snow.
^^^BS, thats not yesterday, it looks like powder. You went down to Colonotsorado didnt you.
Found some pow today. An inch or two freshened things up a bit. The season of Purgatory continues.
