Very cool AP! How do you distinguish a lynx skeleton from a bobcat? Skull size?
Angle, I'm jealous! So cool.
I was walking a ridgeline in Bears Ears last week where a mountain lion put down some same-day tracks. It rained overnight so that's how I knew they were new. I eventually realized I was lost and turned back and so fortunately never got to take a pic of him/her.

There are no Bobcats in this part of British Colombia. I’m not a biologist or anything so my identification is based on comparison with images I found online.

Stupid jays are at it again. Last year they tried to build a nest on our roof beams and the neighbor's deck beams but the nest materials kept falling off--on their own. Now they're trying to build a nest on a horizontal section of 6in pvc direct vent pipe under our eaves. Millions of pine boughs they could nest on but I guess they're determined to have a roof over their heads.
I was reading this New Yorker article about some unusual sea creatures https://www.newyorker.com/science/el...-sea-creatures and tracked down a couple of photographs of them.
The seven armed octopus (it has 8 arms but you can usually only see 7)

And the giant larvacean. The animal is the blue thing in the middle. The green thing is its house which it makes out of mucus. This one is found in Monterey Bay, among other places.

I recently read the book "Deep" about Freediving, oceans etc. and they mentioned the dolphins tendency towards amorousness. I think the quote was something like, "the dolphins are usually super friendly, except sometimes they try to rape you."
btw a pretty good book and it was a free Kindle read if you have amazon prime.

I thought I spotted one near the Metolius River about 3 years ago. Concluded “nah, there’s no wolves around here - must be someone’s German Shepherd”
Now I’m not so sure
v cool for sure.
I was swimming off the gulf coast of florida when I saw a fin go by right next to me, in about 4 ft of water. I assumed it was a dolphin and tried to swim with it but couldn't keep up. Years later, reading about a shark attack I realized to my horror that it was almost certainly a bull shark. Now I think I was lucky it was a shark.
