The 2 state solution as most understand it is a mere fantasy because no major Palestinian faction actually supports it today, nor did they support it even back when most Israelis still did (1948~2010). There is no way to implement in a way that would allow Israel security and have acceptance by Palestinians at the level that would have the Palestinians end major terror attacks and rocket strikes, even if you could get an agreement, which is impossible. That realization is shitty for many (me included), because there isn't a good alternative either... but it is reality.
