What brake levers did you use? I made a similar transformation years ago on my mongrel Bianchi Volpe, but the budget Shimano levers are kinda kludgy and lacking any feel.Quote:

If you ever need to use that tube, when you get home and fix/replace the tire, those tubes clean up and fold back up really nice.

I have a friend who carries a Tubolito. He's used it 3 times now I think and each time emptied it out and re-rolled it up to go back into his hip belt. The cost of entry is probably worth the re-usability alone.
That one is a schwalbe aerothan for 700x40ish tires. q was just out of most of the mtb sizes and those tubolito "spare specific" tubes so it was all I got. Well plus a better pump chuck. My road bike does still use tubes and it is a little tempting to order a couple for that to see if I notice a difference. I don't like the idea of puncturing $40msrp tubes though. Schwalbe does mention you can patch these. And that you shouldn't use it in a tire with sealant...
Fwiw, at least for road bikes, the polyurethane tubes are only a tiny bit lighter than latex and have poor durability records. The big thing, though, is that their rolling resistance is significantly higher than latex tubes.
I think the poly tubes are great as spares for MTB and gravel, but for a 25mm tire the weight savings is small and not a good value.
Edit: I looked it up and learned that the most recent testing shows that the RR difference is very small. Weight savings even over latex is substantial. I'll still prob run latex but only bc I already have it. If you have butyl tubes and $80, and you can find the 22g Tubolito S tubes, go for it. I'm not sure about durability, but consumer reviews I've seen are not great.

Huh, ok. I was under the impression they gave similar rolling resistance to latex tubes while being more durable.
I bought one for space savings. My diverge (40c tires) has a swat box and the tubolito fits much better. Every time I would insert the carrier into the box it felt like I was pinching the tube.Quote:

It made brake cable routing a bit more of a hassle, and there were no bar end a junctions in stock so the wiring isn't as clean as I'd like. And my k-edge garmin mount doesn't fit. Zipp does make a faceplate mount for my stem though so I'll try to find one of those. Also out of stock, etas of like "maybe summer."

Who knows when I’ll see it, as it’s theoretically arriving in June.

Not a new purchase or even a real upgrade but I finished rebuilding my Occam last week. I took it apart entirely in late Dec and it sat in the gear room until I finished building the GG. Finally got motivated last weekend and got after it: replaced every bearing (about 1/2 were really crunchy), changed shifter and dropper housing, added foam sleeves in the frame to reduce rattling, rebuilt the dropper, and had the fork and shock damper serviced. Took that opportunity to remove a spacer on the shock to increase the stroke to 55mm which gives me a bit over 150mm of rear travel. I also shortened both brake lines which had always felt overly long, bled everything, and threw new pads in the rear. I pulled the silver forks decals that were trashed and replaced them with mate black ones that are really subtle.
Learned a ton in the process, especially about bearings (there's a spot in the linkage that has 2 identical bearings pressed together, I had to get creative and a bit medieval to get those out).
Went out for a ride on Saturday and holy shit did the bike feel great. I had forgotten what a crisp shifter feels like! The increase travel in the rear is pretty awesome, crazy how different the bike feels now that it's balanced at 150mm front and rear. Very different feel from the GG with a coil and 3 extra pounds, the Occam is like a bunny on crack!

I himmed and hawed over a new hardtail frame for a while but eventually pulled the trigger on a new Nimble 9. The fact that it was in stock and ready to ship was a nice selling point. Ordered it 5 days ago and it showed up today. Color is gorgeous and unique. Build photos once parts start coming in.
