Official 2007 NHL Playoffs Thread...

So much for a Wild/Canucks re-match...:frown: I don't think the same team showed up last night. What a frickin' mess! HOW CAN YOU NOT SCORE ON A 3-ON-5?!?!?!:mad: Very disappointing when compared to Tuesday's game... Powerplays were the difference. I can't believe the Wild were 2-27 on the PP. Lame...

Well, it'll be interesting to see what happens in the off season. We've got a few older (albeit great) players in Carney, Walz, and Rolston - they'll want to keep Rolston for sure, but he might cost too much. He wants to stay here though, so we'll see. I love Carney & Walz, but wouldn't be a bit surprised if they retire. That said, they can still play the game. I'd love to see Willy Mitchell come back to MN though - I HATE seeing him in a Vancouver sweater!!

Our goalie situation will be interesting. Last year we had Ferrnandez and Roloson, now it'll be Fernandez, Backstrom, and Harding. One will have to go, and I think it might be Manny. Backstrom had an AMAZING season for all intents and purposes - he's the future of the Wild I think, and Harding is good enough to start for a lot of teams. Manny has had problems on and aff the last few years - I don't think he'll be back.

Congrats to Sens fans. They look better than they ever have before in the playoffs. Next one against Buffalo (I assume) will probably be tougher. Emery looks great too. Should be a good one.

Flames-Wings series is looking much better than I thought it was going to be!

Not sure how I feel about "re-seeding" the teams after each round. I think I prefer the bracket approach...

So if the Devils survive, they'll either play the Islanders or the Senators pending the outcome of the Sabres-Islanders series?

On one hand it took the Flames two 5 on 3's to beat them last night and some of the worst reffing I have ever seen in game 3, but on the other hand the Wings can self destruct with the best of them. And their power play is beyond inneffective right now.

They better get it together on Sat.

Here's hoping that Flames don't continue the total Jekyll & Hyde performance in Detroit tomorrow. I also really want to see what happens when (hopefully) the Canucks come up against San Jose or Anaheim after watching some of the Dallas series. Calgary / Vancouver WCF would be amazing.

I like the re-seeding format, but I almost wish they'd go to a 1-16 format for making the playoffs but that kills some of the playoff rivalries.

It's always highest plays lowest. It gets complicated, but if/when Buffalo wins, they could play tampa if they win (since they're 7th), or the Rangers (6th overall). If the Devils win, it would be Sabres/Rangers & Devils/Senators.

I would like to think that the Islanders continue their post season tonight. However, I think it is more likely that Yashin will continue his streak as one of the highest paid underperformers in the post season. Probably will be another close loss. 14 years without getting out of the 1st round, Trots where have you gone?

Hasek can still steal a few games if he keeps cool and quits doing dumb shit like that swipe at Iginla. Flames have done an excellent job at pissing him off.

Seems to me like the game winner in game three was the only really bad one he let in.

Sunday night should be fun. I know it looked fucking ugly but I'm proud of Noodles (McLennan) for sticking up for Kipper. The rest of the team hasn't done a good enough job (fear of penalties has something to do with it) of defending him, but if the refs refuse to call goalie interference then there isn't much of an alternative...

Canucks turn to win a game....at least score a goal??!!?? Yeah the slash was horseshit, but so was going after him on the bench, especially when he only had 1 leg to stand on. He's lucky Cowan didn't rip his throat out. And as for Ott going after him in the dying seconds...double horseshit. Not quite sure why Vigneault would put Burrows on the ice after that. Man could you see that coming last night. Kelly Hrudey was bang on when he said it was just a matter of time until the wings won the game. Too bad the rest of the team couldn't play as well as Kipper. Man he made some great saves last night.

I was not happy at all with the way we played for the first half of the game.
Then finally our passing started to come together.

We couldn't clear the zone the whole game though.

PROPS- to the mule, Franzen, that was a hell of a goal.

Nobody is expecting anything form the Sens, everybody is writing them off, they could do the oppisite like the past few years, when they were picked to win & sucked. Now this year they could be a spoiler, the series will a good one to watch regardless, the NEY York state series should be good too, remember the blueshirts have been playing playoff hockey ever since they got Sean Avery in Feb.
