Interesting, this seems to be true. So when I try to quote someone it pulls up the box with all the editing buttons and causes all of the extraneous crap, but here, I quoted you (had to double click the quote button to get the right post), copied the whole quoted post, backed out, then went to just the quick reply box which has no buttons, pasted the quoted post and typed my reply and voila! It's a Festivus miracle!

It's so simple! Wait.

I have also found this to work:

1. Double click to quote the post
2. Type your reply as normal into the box with the editing buttons
3. When you're done, select all and copy everything you write including the quote
4. Delete everything in the box with the editing buttons
5. Click the "Source" button in the upper left of the editing toolbar (this switches it to plain jane mode)
6. Paste everything right in there and hit the Submit Reply button

It's about the same number of steps as backing out of the reply screen and finding a plain jane reply box, but saves you the backing out step.
