I believe the cascadians say "good for the base"
I just checked the Palisades Tahoe website and it shows 11" season total. INCHES, not feet! Can this be true? It is unfathomable. I had a brief fantasy that our slow start would entice some temporary residents to move to Tahoe.
Anyone know if this storm put Alta into a position to open this weekend?
I would expect a official announcement Tuesday evening.
heya local mags> anyone looking for a full time painting position m-f?
Canyons school district should be posting a job at the end of the month(ill try update when the post goes up)
pretty chill place to work and very decent wage for experienced personel. It's a swing shift during school year 2pm-10:30 pm. Place has very good benefits too. Need pass fingerprint background check & subject to drug test for anyone who drives a work truck(everyone gets their own work truck/van) No test on hiring though, just random persons at whim of the bosses.
Be cool to get another skier in here;) Pretty good retirement package too if you put in 20 yrs. When scool's out it switches to 4 ten's to fill in the work week(3 day weekend in summer)
anyways, figured i'd toss this out there. Way rather have a maggot here to work with than some random dueche:) thx 4 reading and good luck if you apply!
o wow that large text looks like shit/srry;)
looks like the position is already posted...just talked to the boss. they gonna start interviewing in a week or 2
Got a link Baron? May have a friend that'd be interested.
Reevaluation tomorrow.
I'd be shocked, but it's pretty fat for Killington.
Methinks it depends on if Solitude is planning on expanding terrain and/or Brighton opening. If the only skiing on the Wasatch front is Link at Soli and Mambo-Meadow-Corkscrew at Alta, then it'll be too crowded at the Zoo.
Guessing gad valley opening 5 days early isn't even in consideration then?
naw I dont.. I know they list the jobs with Indeed.com
i talked to the main boss at facilities after I posted; he said they had 18 applicants so far...but, many people are just fulfilling paperwork to extend unemployment of course. An experienced Painter prob has a good shot at landing the position.
Pretty casual work...we get a schedule that seems quite manageable and work orders in between to fill empty time. No boss at the night/swing shift ..and we get to approach the work however we feel is appropriate.
Any suggestions on where to bring a never-ever to learn? Our older kids all learned to ski in CA when we were living there and our youngest (just turned 2) is excited to learn to ski this winter. Our old local hill had a great beginner area, but not sure where to take her to learn around here. We're pretty much equidistant from BCC/LLC & PC, so I don't mind taking her to where ever the best bunny slope in the area is. Thanks.
Not sure a 2 year old will be old enough to take lessons, but all the resorts have great youth programs so just take them where you’re going to be skiing. If the parents skiing time doesn’t matter as much I would either go to Woodward or Nordic Valley to avoid the traffic
Ive been taking my 2 year old up the summer road on touring gear with the old shoulder carry. Its a great workout, 3 sets of deep squats x 12 with some bavarians mixed in and it feels like 2k of vert.
Stoke level on his part is pretty high, pics to confirm

Dang that’s one cute boy you have there D-Roc
Looks like the Bird announced opening day November 30th
If we don't get snow from now until then Big Emma will be a race course.
Heard that an official announcement on Alta's opening day will be coming tomorrow morning...hopefully riding chairs for this next storm cycle!!

Spoiler alert, it's not this Friday.
My $ is on Saturday then.
Plans got delayed but I'm about to hit the road. Will be in SLC/LCC area for the next week or so, would be stoked to get out for some touring laps with folks. Will be staying in LCC, but have wheels. Lots of touring experience, mediocre company, and occasional bearer of good baked goods.
Yep you were correct

Sweet! If this storm delivers it could shape up to be a great opening day.
Just remember what's underneath... which generally isn't much outside of the Mambo corridor.
Given what I saw on the tour last Saturday up mambo, skiing anything off piste is going to be a hard sell

Anything without artificial snow is not worth putting on skis for. Less'n you like a little fish scale kinda thing.
Or walkin a long way fer some turns.
Ski area is gonna be look over yer shoulder kinda stuff. If'n ya got camping gear ya might head south for a night or two.

Turns in the upper elevation, entry and exit are proceed with caution + scratches are pretty much a guarantee.
The 10" or so suggested in the next day or so will just hide terrain features best avoided.
Awesome, thanks a lot for all the info. Way better conditions than expected based on the descriptions, lots of mellow turns without rocks. Solar aspects have a wee crust, shaded aspect are good, windblown shaded aspects are better, but I've been known to have low standards. More snow on the way! Lots of folks out there
