wtf happened to em? that’s a serious injury
Sounds like he hit something....
If sfotex broke a femur it might slow him down enough in the sk8nner for the rest of us to keep up.
Headed to brighton today. Gonna spin a couple laps on my touring gear to get the feel of them then head out the gate
This guy's been a pretty good forecaster for the Wasatch...this looks ugly....

Thought I would let everyone know, I was the guy in Grizzly on Wednesday. I hit a rock on Patsy and landed on another super hard on my hip/thigh. I made it down most of the way but eventually needed a rescue. X-rays we're ok, just super sore, lucky it wasn't a fracture. Be careful out there!!! Big thank you to the everyone that helped me especially Alta patrol - Ben/Liz/and JB came to get me.
^^ glad to hear you are doing alright. definitely low tide. still took a walk this morning...

hidden canyon was fun again yesterday evening. a bit more settled and a bit more tracked. hope it snows more cuz it’s a bit grim right now.
glad to hear you’re ok too RHag34
Skiing was great yesterday! After rescuing some kids that got their Subaru stuck and had to spend the night we proceeded to ski our asses off. Our host may have the fastest most casual transitions I've ever seen so it felt like we spent the day chasing him around, which was rad since he just keep skiing nonstop, just what's needed during a drought. there was little time to take photos so sorry the only action shot is like that. But like he said at the start of the day, "this may be the best it is going to be for awhile so let's make the most of it." 6 laps and 5000+ feet later and I think we all agreed we had made the most of it. Treated to an amazing sunset, as the wind picked up snow and the snow caught the light. And you know what it means when you're treated to a sunset on your ascent?? Moonlight skiing without the moon.Pray for snow! Or tortoise stew!https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...c194a7c431.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...3f74818bb6.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...ba5a488440.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...63c8c4fe19.jpg

BRUTAH is killing it in that little slice of heaven! Super Jelly!
Spun some laps at Brighton on the husacarans and they rip. Groomers were the most delightful they have been all season. Headed out Pioneer toward vtree and dug a couple pits. Packed pow facet crust facet snirtcrust super airy facets to the ground. CT 11Q1 on the first crust. CT27Q1 on snirtcrust. Had a collapse on the ridge on that first crust layer. Lemons abounded and we skied our uptrack back inbounds.
Mbillie is the hidden canyon you are skiing the one on the other side of brighton?
yeah, just nw of gwe. it's alright. been trying to approach not via the resort to respect their uphill policy, so up a shit grass hill then a hard left through the bone zone etc. the NW stuff is ok, enough coverage to ski. sharks abound but I haven't cored anything yet. it's tracked and not steep but it's skiable for ~1800' or so
ya it’s doable. if you park at the store and walk toward GW on the road it’s the snow clearing immediately before the lift, you’ll see some bad skinners and a lot of grass lol.
conditions I saw were slabby and snow structure fucked but no collapses and not much snow or angle where I went to be too sketchy

Since Ullr is punishing us I thought a sacrifice to sweet baby Jesus may help. I'm getting desperate here.

Back at Alta today , hadn’t been since last Sunday. Was very surprised about the amount of terrain open ~35%
Snow was good but pretty hard, groomers were pretty icy and crowded
Wolverine wasn’t bad , there is still some good snow to be had and generally had the softest skiing .
With that said , supreme can’t open up fast enough , we need another ft - ft and half before I don’t have to worry about tweaking a knee or ankle on land mine s
Been skiing Brighton last couple weekends. Been pleasantly surprised given the terrible snowfall. Really need some snow though. Great Western and Milly can't open soon enough. Super crowded today. Opensnow is saying we might have a chance for something next weekend, but right now its looking high and dry until Christmas.
I cannot imagine what it is going to be like (actually I do know) at Alta over Christmas if they can't get Supreme open. I think it was two years ago that there was not much snow in Park City and skiers made the drive to LCC & BCC, it was insane.
is what it is
stoked to put on the sticks again
and share the shop passes for low tides soli turns n burns with the bmc , icemang, and friends

Don't know how they'll get supreme open without a supreme dump. I don't believe there is any snowmaking there now. Plan is to have it there in the next 1 or 2 years I'm told.
I was just talking about how the limited terrain and tourists will make for human pinball conditions with the tight quarters. I won't be there unless a ton of snow flies.
I blame mtnherps nonsense in the ullr thread.

Even with this shitty start to the season, this thread makes me miss skiing/living in Utah immensely. Need to make my way west again.
im just gonna leave this here cause i like the non alcoholic ski host
aint sure snowlerblades would be most POWDER peeps tools of choice
and personally have never heard anyone refer to him as mr solitude
and i think
#Iknow
crazy g
or the guy makin the cords and skiing the "whole mountain" every day on 200 cm elan nose pickers aka og real skis
is 10x more sillytude
but aint no denying bw's gittin after it on snow bum qualities
I aint a meteorologist, but I can read:
http://opensnow.com/dailysnow/utah
per opensnow the ridge of high pressure will weaken next week and will allow a system to come in.
If you look at the map, LCC is projected to get a .5" of water precip... Couldn't this be anywhere from 6/7 inches up to well over a foot depending on temp, wind, humidity etc???
^ long way out to be making any such predictions I think
no doubt! bw's always bringing it
at solitude for the little man's big mt training, and decided to take a walk. while thin would be an understatement, agree that it is what it is and however it plays out, gonna try to ride the shit out of whatever we get and make the most of it.

Level 9 and SFB for the win, thx for the Solirides. Good to see Iceman and mate on the hill, conditions aren't stellar, but they are smile inducing.
Fun to be on first tram today, familiar faces galore. Regulator was a bit firm at the top but that gave way to edgeable spots down lower.
Burke rides the tram, in jeans.

That cow bell looks to be in a painful location.
Mountain Dell was stellar yesterday, picked up a season pass this morning, think it's going to get more use then my Soli pass this month.
Some Alta magic this morning even during the high pressure from hellhttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...32fa71c038.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...a84a10490b.jpg

^ nice!!
The Backside rope drop yesterday was definitely unexpected, and very appreciated. Got 2 untracked Backsides before venturing out the very long traverse to Greeley Hill/North Rus area for another 2.
what time did this happen?
I was there until 3 when I had an equipment malfunction. Found some good snow in the trees off Spruces, twas nice indeed.
Latest Open Snow Forecast: http://opensnow.com/dailysnow/utah
At this point I'm looking forward to any system that gets rid of this inversion: This AM was awful. Hoping for 6-8 inches this weekend
Cool your jets with the 6-8 inches, ya'll need about 160-180 to get things in decent shape, which could still very well happen in about 3 weeks there.
Also, learn to live with the inversion and STFU about it, or leave Utah. If you live there, you contribute to it, it comes with the territory. You waive your right to bitch about air pollution when you wantonly become part of the problem.
yep. drive less, ~48% of it is vehicular emissions. take public transportation or a clean vehicle, don't burn wood, turn your heat down, etc if you want to do anything about it.
Exactly. Or accept it, and continue to live you life as you did before, which is the approach I took, and will take, when I move back to SLC. You can keep your public transit and clammy house, I'll deal with the smog and drive where I please, when I please, and keep my heat where I damn well want, because none of those things are anyone's goddamn business but mine.
I would trade that smog for the unbelievable restrictions we have on individual liberties and freedom of movement that we have here in a heartbeat.
The next person who mentions the "benefits" of public transportation is going to get punched right in the babymaker. Sure, then you ride that bullshit, I'll enjoy driving my internal combustion vehicle everywhere I can.
