They also cut Jalen Rose, who I really enjoyed.

Van Fleet getting paiiiiid! Makes me feel better about Grants contract. Like maybe there are other dumb GMs out there.

Draymond got a bag from the W’s.
Fuck Mark Jackson.
Draymond’s first year is about $5M less than his option would have been and saves Dubs about $43M in lux tax.
Assuming Klay takes a pay cut in 24/25 and beyond and they trade CP3s non-guaranteed 2nd year they can be below 2nd apron, use taxpayer MLE, and maybe add someone decent. 1-2 years left and that’s it for the Dubs. (Years 3-4 won’t be good.) But, I’m not mad at what Dunleavy Jr. has done so far given the hand he was dealt.
The Dubs are small and old, but looking at the playoffs the last two years if a team can hang around then with some luck it can make a run to the Finals. (Especially if it has a top 5-6 player)

Van Vleet and Grant were overpays, IMO
Mavs becoming Nets West? Re-signing Kyrie and adding Seth Curry. They made some good moves.
Someone gonna offer A. Reaves some $ and get him away from Lakers? (Or at least hurt them $-wise.) Thought Lakers upgraded by signing Gabe Vincent over Schroeder.
Sac Re-signed “5 for 32” Harrison Barnes. They coulda/woulda/shoulda used their cap space differently. They have some left though.
Nuggets lost Brown. That will hurt them. At least Lakers didn’t land him.

Q: Does anyone like the new CBA?

Dame finally asks out. He’s been a loyal guy. Good luck to him.
Makes the Grant signing even weirder
I hate that they signed Grant to the $160m contract. Nice player, but why not go young and trade dame and nurk for some assets/picks. I guess they're thinking that Grant is our guy going forward and we'll still have Anfernee, Sharpe and Scoot...how those guys all play on the floor at the same time is not clear to me. Maybe they go get a decent center? Just weird....and shitty.
I just read somewhere that Dame kept quiet in his meeting with them this week. So they signed Grant to that absurd contract to hopefully keep him happy, and THEN he requested a trade. I hope that's not true, because if it is, that's fucked.
Russel back in LA for 2 more years. Questionable. LA really trying to run it back one more time.
I don't blame them, if I were them I'd just tinker around the edges. They looked solid in the playoffs and they've added a couple of solid role players. Given they only had half of a season to figure shit out, hoping for improvement is reasonable. What else should they do?
Grant Williams heading to Dallas on Sign and Trade deal

That bums me out.
I'm not sure how I feel. Definitely losing Grant AND Smart leaves a bit of a hole. Grant is definitely a good player. As time goes by I'm not even sure why I thought I didn't like him. Maybe I read something somewhere that there were locker room issues? I dunno anymore.
Thybulle (RFA) supposedly signing Dallas offer sheet in range of 3/$33M.
Blazers have 2 days to match.

Embiid with a new backup....mo bamba. Ehhhh, could be worse.
NY fans are gonna love DiVincenzo.
I can only guess that it's a long game for Cronin...meaning he thinks locking up guys like Grant and Thybulle on these deals means that we will be able to trade them mid-season/mid-contract when playoff bound teams think they need a guy for whatever reason...then the Blazers presumably would get back some nice picks or some younger player(s) with upside? Otherwise I don't see the point in locking up cap space with these guys to be on a team that's destine to finish close to the bottom of the standings.
I would not lump Thybulle and Grant together. For one, Grant is 5/$160M and Thybulle is 3/$33M, vastly different. And Thybulle is quite young and could contribute on the same timeline as their young guys, and $11M isn't locking up a ton of cap space, and is a tradeable contract. Plus, letting an asset walk for nothing is, well, a waste.
Grant's contract, well, that makes no sense to me. I don't see how it's a tradeable asset that would bring back anything, plus you have to match salaries so they would have to take back a bad contract.
