New album from UK based Sons of Kemet. I know I've repped them before - they're well worth your time. The band leader, Shabaka Hutchings, is incredible.
Check out this track, "Let the Circle be Unbroken" from Black to the Future. The groove gets really good at around the three minute mark:

Did a Search, and there's no mention of the word Mehldau on this entire site. Who the fuck are you ppl?

More jazz.
Sun Ra - pathways to unknown worlds Preservation hall jazz band - New Orleans
Medeski Martin and Wood - uninvisible
Chick Corea - Alive. (he just died recently, so not alive anymore)
Sun Ra is out there. Like way out there.
Uninvisible is on right now, and so far it is fun, entertaining and easy to listen to, but I think I like the dropper and it's more experimental out there sound better - so far... Edit, pretty solid really, digging it.

Sun Ra is awesome.
May have already posted this in this thread, if so I blame the weed: Sun Ra played at my college in the late 80s. Was an incredible experience (not just an incredible concert, an incredible experience).
Prepare for the journey, to outer space!
We travel the spaceways, from planet to planet.
Got to see Sun Ra and His Arkestra a couple of times, great shows with the band line dancing through the tables at the old Rainbow on 45th and at the Backstage.
I think it would take a lot of acid for me to have made it through a Sun Ra concert.
^ I haven't listened to Sun Ra much. Lanquidty is pretty accessible though:

We have a new venue opening up in Portsmouth. They're lining up some great talent and it looks really nice, but maybe (or probably) too nice $$$. I despise the membership thing with a place like this. So many of the people who end up going don't even hear the music. They're there only to be seen.

I feel the need to play this…
I stumbled upon that joint after spiraling down a Eugene McDaniels rabbit hole last night.
It all started with Prince Po (of the rap duo Organized Konfusion) making a FB post about "Jagger The Dagger", a McDaniels song they sampled (a number of others have sampled it, too: https://www.whosampled.com/Eugene-Mc...agger/sampled/).
That caused me to rummage through my vinyl stacks where I found a battered copy of headless heroes of the apocalypse, the album that track appears on. On it, McDaniels (aka The Left Reverend McD) flirts with jazz, funk, and folk all with socio-political context; super cool album if you can find it.
That prompted me to dig around the webz to learn more about McDaniels. He was a prolific cat with his fingers in a variety of genres.
He wrote "Compared To What", but I couldn't find his version on YouTube (it was also recorded by Roberta Flack, amongst others, but supposedly the Les McCann/Eddie Harris version is the most famous, though).

Stopped by the local skate shop yesterday and an electric era Miles t shirt caught my eye. Turns out HUF has a whole Miles line out right now.

Wayne Shorter is jazz.
Terrence Blanchard breaks it down here

Love his early stuff with Miles
His solo stuff
Headhunters
Etc.
Remember driving down LCC once in early 00s after hanging late at Pdog with Buster and Ice who were in town visiting.
Buster had given me a CD he thought I would like: Hallucination Engine by Material. Came out mid 90s, a Laswell production. New to me. Threw it in to head home downtown.
Blissed from Scissor clippings just enjoying the grooves and a beautiful mid winter night when the sax comes in...
Knew it was Shorter
Just heard it.
He is jazz to me

I am real hit or miss for jazz but this whole album is in regular rotation.
We caught a killer Chet Baker set during quarantine on one of the local radio stations that ended with this an incredible song I have not been able to track down. What they credited online is not the right track. I vividly remember the bass, it sounded like a fretless electric rather than upright and had a phaser effect throughout the song. Any idea what album it could be from?
This is a really good playlist.

Lots of "Jazz of Bosch" playlists out there if you search.
If you haven't seen the show, it is excellent, as is the soundtrack. Not sure if it has been mentioned in this thread yet.
