New album from UK based Sons of Kemet. I know I've repped them before - they're well worth your time. The band leader, Shabaka Hutchings, is incredible.

Sun Ra is out there. Like way out there.
Uninvisible is on right now, and so far it is fun, entertaining and easy to listen to, but I think I like the dropper and it's more experimental out there sound better - so far... Edit, pretty solid really, digging it.

May have already posted this in this thread, if so I blame the weed: Sun Ra played at my college in the late 80s. Was an incredible experience (not just an incredible concert, an incredible experience).

Got to see Sun Ra and His Arkestra a couple of times, great shows with the band line dancing through the tables at the old Rainbow on 45th and at the Backstage.
I think it would take a lot of acid for me to have made it through a Sun Ra concert.

We have a new venue opening up in Portsmouth. They're lining up some great talent and it looks really nice, but maybe (or probably) too nice $$$. I despise the membership thing with a place like this. So many of the people who end up going don't even hear the music. They're there only to be seen.

Buster had given me a CD he thought I would like: Hallucination Engine by Material. Came out mid 90s, a Laswell production. New to me. Threw it in to head home downtown.

I am real hit or miss for jazz but this whole album is in regular rotation.
We caught a killer Chet Baker set during quarantine on one of the local radio stations that ended with this an incredible song I have not been able to track down. What they credited online is not the right track. I vividly remember the bass, it sounded like a fretless electric rather than upright and had a phaser effect throughout the song.
