Travel hacks and advice

Delta Sky Peso's was the beginning of the end for me and I did cancel that card this year donating my balance to charity.
I really liked my Chase card but the annual fee is going from about $550 to $750 in October so will cancel that one too.
I have a Citi card that gave me a nice bonus at sign up a few months ago, but the miles are not that good value wise like the Chase miles were.
I guess miles are a devalued perk now and I will likely cancel them all out over time and go with a Citi card I see at the Costco gas pump that is pretty strong cash back.
Using Google Flights I have found flights out of Vancouver or Calgary are priced way better than LAX or SFO (usual points of departure for us).
If you can get there cheap, it may be a good option for you to when flying to Yurp.

Multiple times I've gone to the Delta site and logged in, looked for flights, then returned an hour or a day later and the prices have gone up. It's frustrating. I hope they saw me recently go to United and buy a ticket there instead. Then again, they have so many rich customers that fly regularly their AI bot probably doesn't care. And that is why the changed their skymiles program. IMO it's now for actual frequent fliers, not for people like me that only fly 6-8 times a year, with one of those flights being international. They have customers happily taking my place.

…It looks like there still is enough credit to services I already use to get close to zeroing out that cost ($300 travel, dash pass, appletv, peloton, Lyft)… I need backcheck and see how clean those credits work - if they are a simple statement credit - I’ll keep the card. If they require more effort, bummer.

That level of flying is way more than most people that aren't business travel road warriors.

I've moved to Alaska. Their miles are still based actual miles and they fly most places I go direct from Seattle. Can go international with American as a partner.

Yeah, the changes are a bummer. I was trying to make the math work, but it is likely not worth it for me. What other cards give primary coverage for rental cars?

Ah, thanks. I should know how the Delta FF program works. I gave up caring when I cancelled my Delta Amex card around 2020. I do like the Delta flying expereince though. Most my yearly flights are work trips booked by someone else and then I use Chase travel for occasional free Delta personal trips.

What does that even mean? Do you honestly think Delta is doing something special in the friendly skies? I feel like all the legacy airlines are the same tired boats with the same tired crews.
Singapore? Yes!
Virgin? Maybe.
Delta American United and their partners? It’s cattle transport. That’s all.

I dunno. Of the domestic carriers, Delta is by far the best. Especially if on-time arrivals are of value to you, and as a frequent business traveler, that's pretty important to me. Plus, on my last flight out of SLC last week, the flight attendant SUPER hooked it up. I was in comfort+, and she brought over the snack basket from First class and gave us all we wanted. Then when I asked for an "adult beverage," she slipped me a handful of bottles. Hella great service from that one. Hot, big booty latina with the body of a goddess FWIW.

Ive had the Citi costco card for years. I like it and theyve recently upped the cash back % on a few categories. I usually get $350-400 back.

I always found mileage plans hard to take advantage for the flights I do most, so getting cash back instead has been nice.

If you have access to it the Royal Bank Avion card is still one of the best cards out there for ease of use. Book any ticket based on ticket price.

I don't think that's true. I track a few one ways on Google flights so I can pounce when they're lower. The price on there is what I always see when I go to the airlines website.

Agree that Delta is the best in air experience of the large US carriers in my opinion. Less lost bags, more on time than others, when shit does go wrong they take care of you, either in an automated way through their pretty nice app or on ground at the service counters.

Yeah, Alaska is great. But they're also growing a lot. Curious to see how long they can maintain greatness as they expand beyond being just a regional carrier.
