Bode always talked about doing it for himself. He obviously liked seeing just how far, and beyond, he could take it.

Letting go of that absolute control is going to be the key for her in the speed events. She is starting to get that if she lets go a little bit she can go faster. It shows in her gradually moving up the speed event rankings.
I don't think she'll go full Bode though
One more till 50.
Bode was fun because he was a free spirit on the course. He did whatever he had to to be the fastest. Shiffrin is the exact opposite. She's calculated to the point where she doesn't need to take the risks Bode did.

To mathematically clinch the overall globe in the alpine World Cup, an athlete must have a point lead that exceeds the total number of races remaining times 100.
There are 26 remaining ladies events (I think... not sure if the World Championships at Åre count for World Cup points or not... the number 26 that I provided does NOT include the World Championships).
Thus to clinch, Shiffrin would need to have a lead of 2600 points.
Her lead is currently 422 points after today's Courchevel GS victory.
So she has NOT yet clinched, and she actually has quite a ways to go to mathematically clinch.
Statistically though, she's highly likely to win, being that she's well ahead of the overall leader's usual point total for this early in the season. The only plausible thing that could get in the way of her and another overall title is an injury.
She looked sharp today attacking like she did in the second run.

^^^^^^^^Thanks
I've said it before, but she is the best skier I've ever seen.
...And 50. I don't think those skis could be any redder.
7/11 races won.
She’s untouchable right now....
Pretty good.

"Mikaela Shiffrin has done it again‼️Today, she won her 50th career World Cup. At age 23, she equals the slalom wins record and is the youngest skier EVER to reach 50 victories."

Equal to Tomba with 50 wins

I am pretty sure I am in love... way out of my league.
Has anyone had a better three weeks of racing? I can’t think of anyone. 5 for 5 in four disciplines.
Amazing

She’s really good at saying the exact right things in interviews too. Always gracious and humble.
Another weekend of wins? Hope so!

That was a great little streak she had going...all things come to an end.
Only see times, not footage; she bobble the second run?
First run times sure were close.
Another slalom win
