i'm hoping SP is wrong, but if true winter is going to go out with a bang. looking cold and dumpy over the next 6 days.
in the meantime, it's been a great cpl days running pistes. sunny mild and great coverage. i'm not complaining one bit.

it will dump quite a lot. i can pretty much confirm what i said in my last post.
huge dump in the west from friday to sunday, but snowlevels rise quickly. im still hoping for a few hundered meters lower, but right now it looks like 1800-200m on sunday.
hey cham mags, i'm sneaking out early for corporate ski trip, should be skiing on my own next wed-friday, let me know if you're around.
edit- will be staying argie
Snowing hard even here east of Cologne, so Arlberg should be gorgeous again this weekend when I'll be down.:FIREdevil
I think i'm going to need some spare snow chains just in case for saturday morning ...
The freezing levels not much fun though ... looks like it will be raining in resort on saturday.
I'm trying to decide whether or not La grave will even be open on Saturday or sunday with this sort of snowfall. I'm trying to work out which day to book the guide for in La grave .... Sunday or Mon ?
Whats the history in la grave after dumps like this ?

 Ohoh!
Almost a meter in a little more than a day, increasing temperatures and strong winds! I don't think I've ever seen anything like it.
Watch out for those avvys mate!
Probably partly open in the morning and most likely all open very quick. After all it's not like they have to secure the area or anything.....Quote:

edit: didn't notice temps and wind. That might be what keeps them from opening alltogether or at least closing above P2.
Well, I've got my flights and accommodation (in Grenoble - probably should have kept trying for somewhere closer but got tired of it) sorted for the weekend.
Wildstyle - I'll give you a call.
Grenoble will leave you with a load of options if you an get out of bed early and have access to a car.
considering the development: i wonder if they open at all ;)
but everyting after friday is still uncertain right now. the ammounts and the possible storm and most important: the storm track. several hundred km south or north may decide over snow levels and precip.
it WILL snow in the western alps, but it is yet uncertain where and how much.
I think I'd only want to play between midstation and P1 in those conditions anyway...
pfft pussy.
nothing beats a trifide 3 straightline in zero vsibility ! :D
Or get Mulletizer to aim you vaguely at the Freaux.Quote:

O wise European weather oracle (aka Subtle Plague): what is the long range forecast for this month (March), in particular end of March?
although you call me oracle, i pretend to be a amateur weather geek. so no long range foretellings from me. :)
(and i do not have a clue sorry)
but according to the next week the base should be nice in the western alps ;)
Shameless self promotion - http://www.tetongravity.com/forums/s...ad.php?t=47769
...TeleAl and bbirtle rip up Les Diableretes during the last storm...
My prediction is that there will be wind/snow/sun/cloud/rain between now and the end of april and then most of the snow will melt ...Quote:
