I need another Shepherd
Such a great breed of dog. I prefer the hybrids like my American Alsatian or a Shiloh Shepard. Bigger, but much more chill than a standard GSD. There are always so many available to adopt. Your new best friend is out there waiting for you, so good luck and post pics when found.
Carly was a rescue. Probably east euro working lines. Great dog. Not sure what you mean by a”standard GSD”, lots of variation in the breed. SV v AKC for example. Working lines v show lines. My nephew has. Shiloh, really nice dog. But not any bigger, or smarter, than the SV line dogs I’ve had. Anyway, I will get a rescue in the near future.
RIP Ava. Sorry for the family’s loss, ice.
RIP Carly, and vibes to everyone posting in this thread, ugh.
Huh? I have seen about 5-6 Shiloh's and all were much larger than a standard US GSD. I have met 1 or 2 GSD male dogs in the 110lb range, but they are the aberration, where as that is normal for a male Shiloh Shepard. Nobody said anything about smarts, they are all as smart as a whip, but the Shiloh's are breed to be calmer and less active, which works for me. I hope to see your new friend down the road.

We said goodbye to our Jacky boy today. He had an amazing weekend swimming and playing fetch. It happened so so fast and we were able to end his suffering as soon as possible.
I’m heartbroken.
So sorry for your loss man...
RIP Jack

Sorry to hear. Never easy to let go, but the correct thing to do.
That sucks. Sounds about what happened with Ava. So fast. Sorry man.
This thread is hard to read. RIP doggos.

Big hug to all the doggies and their humans.
Jack looks like he was a special one.
I'm sorry for your loss.
Thanks to all for your condolences. All good boys and girls in this thread no doubt.
RIP Jack
Always tough to open this thread when it rises to the top. Finally got the nerve today. Condolences to all.
I still have my dogs bed in my office under the credenza where he used to sleep when he came to work with me. Its been 6 months, but just doesn't seem right to throw it out as it still smells like him.
He had a tumor in his nose that we discovered a year and a half ago. We were able to manage the symptoms and pain up until it moved into the space behind his eye on Tuesday and there was nothing we could do to relieve the pain/pressure.
Nothing prepares you for the loss. Total devastation.

RIP Logan.
Vibes to doggie folks.
RIP Logan.
My neighbor lost his shepherd Pita this morning. As we put her in the ground, I joked that she held out to spite him because he always said Jack would outlive her. He said she always was a pain in the ass.
Fuck. RIP O.D.
I can’t begin to express my sympathies to those people who’ve come before me in this thread. I now, after 11 great years with the little guy, understand how you feel. Emptiness hardly comes close.
7/29/2019 was O.D.’s last day with us.
