I was cleaning my bike, Mojo 4, and I noticed the head on the preload bolt on my lower link sheared off.
Anyone ever seen this?
My LBS said it' ok to ride as the pinch bolt holds it together.
I ordered a new complete lower link and was considering riding something else until it was swapped out.
Any thoughts.

If you have the means, I'd keep your other wheel whole, always nice to have a backup. The 1/1 hubs are fine but I don't think they're really worth relacing. I'd go Onyx. :fmicon:

Same. Uber comfy and fits well, but died fast like... for a $90 glove wtf? Went Hestra, so happy.

How sketch is this? Getting ready for a Whistler pilgrimage(hence finding some burlier gloves , and also because I’m starting to look like meth hands) , was cleaning and greasing the headset on the status and figured I’d try out a little more stem spacing for the park setting, so moved the last 10mm from the top to under the stem and put top cap direct to stem….the top of steerer tube is still the requisite mm underneath top edge of stem.

I run 29 on my hardtail spring, summer and fall, but our generally low snow PA winters around Duffman and I, the 27.5+ works nicely for traction when trails are kinda shitty.

I wouldn’t rule a 27.5+ bike out and picking up a normal 29er wheelset for rest of the year.

I priced out the rims only + spokes/build cost from my local wheelbuilder using my 350's and it was essentially the exact same price as the $1,399CAD Union + 1/1 combo (which they also hand build). I opted for getting brand new hubs and being able to sell my old ones.

So the bike is a 2019 Fuel EX 9.8, think they are looking for $1600 or so but with my wife being smaller no way she's going to want to push around the carbon 40mm ID wheels with 27.5 x2.8 tires. Would need to budget for 29 wheels and tires. Would anyone consider this or just keep looking ? What's the budget for decent (doesn't need to be carbon ) wheels and tires these days?

Price doesn't seem too bad, bicycle blue book shows higher value, but I would expect to factor in at least 600 for a good 29er wheelset and tires for if you're going that path. That alone sounds like its more trouble than it's worth. My statement above re: 27.5+ is also mostly slanted towards hardtails where I think it makes more sense than FS bikes, but as others mentioned it's a nearly dead standard these days. You may find that an equivalent 29er would be good bit more and this would give some option and flexibility.

Bet you could get $400 for carbon plus wheels and tires to defer the cost. If you go that route hit me up, could be interested and I'm local-ish.

Yeah, I can see a use case with a hardtail , but for a FS bike that already has plenty of travel for around here it just seems like dead rotating weight (in addition to a nearly dead standard going forward )

Personally, I'd rule out the Sniper (without even having looked at the specs) just because I think Intense is a joke brand now. I'd pass on the Izzo because YT's warranty rep is awful, and odds of breaking a little bike are high. Of the SJ and Spur, I'd go for the Spur due to the "never want to be torn" bit.

Intense has been direct to consumer and also looked for alternative channels (moto shops, at one point Costco) for a long time. Do you know that their quality has changed? I demoed a 2019 Spider years ago, and other than finding the finishing leverage curve a little too progressive for my taste (at the time anyways, I do ride a little differently now and might get along with it better), it was a super solid and fun playful ride that had every right to compete against a 5010, Mojo, etc.
