I've had good experiences with just a shock on two different dogs. You can use an adjustable jolt, buzzer, or beep. Both dogs learned to respond to just the beep in most cases. The jolt isn't to hurt them, but grab their attention. Get a waterproof model.

This is my new little buddy, Char. My sister decided it was a good idea to get a lab puppy as a freshman in college living in an apartment building in a metro area. Parents told her she was a fucking idiot and they weren’t taking her in when she wanted to give her up. Well, three months later, they were true to their word and I ended up with her. Still a bit pissed by the imposition but she is a very sweet pup and will fetch for as long as I can throw.

I just had a basic collar from Sportdog for about $100. We bought it a decade ago and haven't had to use it for at least 5 years. It looks to me that comparable is about $150 now. Some of the Garmin collars that have tracking and shock/vibration are a good bit more and I don't know anything about thenQuote:

The other half’s 2 pits are trained on shock collars. The bark limiter was the reason for getting them. They have both been shocked maybe two or three times since we got them 5 years ago. They respect the vibration and tone, they also respect the collar being put on them in general. They behave with the collars just being on them. They are the garmin collars but they don’t have gps on them. Because of owning pitbulls they are constantly on leash when we are in public around people, not that they are bad, more of making people feel better about them. I shocked myself with the collars before training them. I think that’s actually in the training instructions as well.
I haven’t tried to use one on Grace yet due to only having her for two or three months and not knowing her history. She is also very respectful of commands and doesn’t bark. If she wasn’t well behaved I would have tried it already due to the fact of her being 85 pounds of solid muscle now. The collars can make a dog mean and cause issues.
definitely recommend looking into them but do the research on training using it.

We had a cat once (a big fluffy maine coon type of cat) and she got up on a table that had a lit candle. Her tail caught on fire and I chased the cat around the house trying to put it out.
