One of my close high school friends went there and still reveres the place. He even did two stints as an instructor during his career. He was always more comfortable in a structured environment than I was though. Honestly he kind of needs the structure I think. After 20 some years in the army he went back to school for a PHD. I couldn’t handle it, even if I had the grades. School was prison for me.
edit: West Point is upstate in my book- maybe borderline but upstate
They have been out of the auto market long enough (7 years or so) that it will probably be a harder find. If you know a good mechanic that can take it apart and rebuild it (depending on what is wrong with it and how bad of damage) otherwise better check with some junk yards that can search far and wide for specific year model engines that will drop in.
Alright, I have another parameter to determine where Upstate begins and West Point IS the deciding line because they have the southernmost ski area in NY State. There are no ski areas left south of Rt 6 which just happens to be sight distance from West Point. This ski areas vs no ski areas is the perfect determinant for this forum. Perfect!
M27, what engine is that? There's a pretty good chance there are a few million of them sitting in rusting out heaps scattered about. GM used Suzuki motors in a few things and they were popular in industrial rigs. I had a buddy with a 1988 or so Samurai and he dropped a Nissan V6 with 5 speed in and turned it into a monster that would light up all 4 on dry pavement.
Victor Constance Ski Slope. I skied there a bunch. West Point had a varsity ski team my freshman year and I was on it (although not competitive). They then made it a club sport the following year.

There may be some details to work out and this throws out GL’s original Rt 6 border but there could be a case here. The southern most ski areas

That’s what I paid for a case of UC when I first discovered it around 1991. It came in cool bullet bottles back then too- like the shape of a red stripe.
Just checking in quick to note that the soccer podcast meninblazers nominated Utica to be the US version of Wrexham.
Thought I should mention that.
Is this really upstate? https://www.wcax.com/2023/04/25/torn...tate-new-york/
Yes... Good thing it only affected a few things and didn't get the breweries and distilleries.
Eastern Upstate ? beverage of the day :)

^ totally underrated Vermont brewery.
If West Pont is upstate, then I may be detouring through the upstate on my way to Providence for work next week.
The CIA and West Point are clearly upstate.
Not the whole fist upstate, but upstate nonetheless.
The Bear Mountain Bridge is the clear delineator.
Rt 6 :)
