Always wondered about that place. Good to know.
I feel like it was closed, or shut down, for a couple years? Something with the sewer or water system. Or did I make that up?
Once the monorail is installed they will put the salida bv monarch spur in the on mountain base area upgrades will be mint aliitle crowded but the amenities like whine bar at tge base will be worth it
Hey everybody the tunnel turns 50 today! Probably needs to start scheduling a colonoscopy now.
Another crazy crash, caught on video by that same bridge they fixed by Loveland on Saturday. That huge pothole with rebar showing is basically at the apex of the turn in the right lane. Fucking CDOT.

No doubt crazy but some interesting editing of that dash cam footage. Why not a continuous shot?
Right lane ruts are a way of life until we get trucks off that road.
thats not a pot hole
get that right
it's complete failure of the road surface with no maintenance
but hey they all have nice new offices and new trucks to drive around in
That news segment is a hit piece, there's only video of them after the crash started and not before, and the driver plays totally dumb, "was just driving along and then my trailer went crazy, it must have been that pothole after we got out and investigated".
I’ve driven over that curve a bunch this past month before they did anything and it was really bad. I was ready for the holes/ruts and every time I swayed and bounced around good. Can’t imagine not knowing that’s coming and having a trailer. Not surprised this happened. Surprised it took so long. Pathetic that it happened just after they closed the road on a Saturday ski rush hour to fix it when there was a hole through the bridge.
Sure, but if that was you with the trailer, and you were interviewed, you would say "I didn't expect all those holes and ruts, and I hit them with my truck and swayed and bounced around, then the trailer hit them and everything went haywire". Instead, he says he was just driving along, and next thing he knows, the trailers is going crazy, and when they went back and investigated, they saw the potholes. Sounds like he is trying to absolve himself of his poor driving.
Watch out for K9 Babe, if you're trying to get drugs through Summit County!

Let this be a lesson to you, kids. Only break one law at a time. If you’re going to be speeding, wear your seatbelt. If you were going to be muleing, large amounts of drugs, wear your seatbelt and use your turn signals when changing lanes.
dact.
After avoiding it most of the winter I had the misfortune of needing to travel I70 today. The condition of that highway is awful. Cracks, uneven lanes, wheel track depressions and potholes that could swallow a small sedan. What a disgrace. Maybe it gets more traffic and particularly more heavy traffic but I’ve never seen a road in European snow country in such bad shape. Hell I doubt there’s any major highway in any first world country in consistently worse condition.
Why? Is it the volume of traffic, the volume of heavy vehicles or do we just cheap out on construction and maintenance? Seems to recall an article somewhere that US spends 2/3rd per mile and gets 1/2 lifespan. False economy if true
The longer answer is TABOR.
Bean can chime in on this but y'all are neglecting to mention the window of opportunity to close lanes to mill and overlay on I-70 is crazy short. Shoulder season only because remember the summer is even busier than the winter.
Bridge repair goes to another type of contractor. You remember the east Vail pass Dukes of Hazard drop offs from the other summer right?
I'm gonna go look at my John Fielder books and remember life before I-70 now
