I thought I'd never say this, but I seem to be gravitating toward more jibby skis, and hence the Piste Jib. This all started off with my looking for a skinnier GPO.Quote:

Anyone know why MVP is 109mm now, and 4mm camber height versus last years 2mm?? Not that it makes any difference, but I’m just wondering..

Dang I was wondering the same thing! Wasn't sure bout last yrs specs but I was thinking the same. Not gonna lie, last yr I'd of been a little bummed about that change, but now that I'm looking for something for fall/spring/park on resort and been debating Piste V MVP I'm actually quite excited about the changes because I've always had a hard on for a MVP. Shocked though that Keith hasn't updated the changes in the description and reason for them?

I'm about to order some skinny RX's... 184cm. Thinking Enduro Carbon with 4 flex and a veneer top sheet to shave off a bit more weight. Slackcountry setup to be mounted with Shifts. Thoughts? They don't need to be that light - hence the Shift bindings - just not heavy as shit. Hoping for a good do-it-all-travel ski that can handle 50/50 resort / BC.
FWIW my favorite current skis are ON3P Wren 108's... But also tour on some much, much lighter skis like Black Crows Anima Freebirds.

Seriously? So you're saying just Enduro layup? I like that carbon pop in ON3P's too, though. I do plan to tour on these things... I mean, you two responding definitely resonates... just surprised.
Honestly I would skip the carbon as well... if you were trying to do the same with a stock sized RX for softer stuff, then yeah I'd say go for it if it you think you'd enjoy it. For a skinny do it all though, yeah I'd skip the carbon. But hey, there are several here who would say otherwiseQuote:

Ya I’m with you on the On3p and the pop. Enduro core w veneer and no c will still be lighter than On3p tour lay up and lots of pop. That’s what I’ve found. Love my 102 steeples. Damp and stable even with dfits but they’re 174 and equivalent to 176.5 in Praxis length. Those 102’s weigh more than my 177 Praxis concept enduro veneer carbon(concept is stiffer and 115 waist). Because of the steeple, I would have preferred to have no carbon in my concepts so I could use them 50/50 more confidently. I like carbon and/or ul for touring only. Enduro veneer only is light and has a great feel. That’s me though. Some seem to like carbon on the hill.
I actually haven’t skied any Enduro core or anything with carbon from Praxis. A 184 skinny Rx with Enduro core should be under 9lbs/pair. Add carbon, and drop down to maybe 8.5ish lbs.Quote:

By the way the Rx skis, I suspect a skinny version to ski like a 98mm ski. Be careful of the pintail design when going skinny and lightweight though. It might be more noticeable.
I would go standard width Rx if I were you. Since it already handles firm the same as or better than most 108 or 110 skis I have tried. The standard 116mm waist helps this fairly traditional (feeling) ski float pretty well. The shape is a great one ski quiver. Even the heavy core is very quick edge to edge for its width and turn radius. Think of heavy core 116mm Rx as a quicker and snappier Wren, that feels “edgier” and pretty much as stable.

Trigger pulled. 183 mvp, praxis tattoo, ambrosia, enduro/Carbon, 3+. Hoping for < 8 lbs. I’ll post photos this fall once I mount my own fucking skis.

Thanks for the feedback, good to know. Definitely going skinny RX though since it fills more of a need in my quiver and I want to be able to ski groomers for a day without all of that width on my knees. Sounds like normal enduro is the way to go for that reason too.

Had first full day of spring conditions at AM on my Freerides. Impressed by the way they plow throughout the crud. Little deflection, but the ski is more lively than damp. Responds well in the deeper crud even w/o a lot of up unweighting, you can tip it on edge and let it ride. The tail is fairly stiff, and can be pushed out as needed. Been skiing on Lhasas for the last few years and got used to being able to break out the tapered tail, and was concerned that the Freeride wouldn’t cooperate, but it was not a problem.
Definitely has a sweet spot near boot heel. Solid fun ski.
My buddy bought a pair of 184s this year and said the same thing to me. Does that mean the boot center could be moved back and keep the skis' good qualities?Quote:

Don’t think so. Mine are on the line, which is what Keith recommended. The point is that center pressure into the ski works well, you can and I try to be, forward on my boots. Maybe a better description is front of heel through mid archQuote:

Final Protest question. Flex 3 in a 192? I’ve never owned a ski line this so I’m a LL over. 3+ for the Goldilocks seems right but I hate bugging Keith on that stuff. My concept is a 4 but i Charger on that.
My question really should be is 3 on the protest enough crud busting once things get a bit tracked.
