Moving on - any updates on conditions around the area? BGNight - thanks for the update on Castle - I was curious if these little deposits and moderate SW winds are keeping the existing wind slabs from stabilizing. Based on the S.A.C. obs page, that appears to be the case.

What don't you understand about people being upset by the noise? They're upset by the noise. What else is there to understand? People don't like having to breathe second-hand smoke and smell like it so you have smoking sections and smoke-free environments because it's almost impossible to otherwise mitigate the impact of one group's behavior on another except through segregation. ^^ That would be my bet. In the north bay last night and this morning it was pouring HARD. Storm track looks like a good portion of that should be hitting Tahoe.
It is definitely over delivering. I have about 2 inches in the parking lot at 6200 on the river.
Was just up at Squaw to take a couple of laps over lunch. About 6 inches up there already in non-wind loaded areas. Was skiing very nicely and a great couple of runs actually.
Back to work.

Regarding the BC battle: people just need to be more courteous and more willing to share... As someone who skins and snowmobiles equal amounts I dont think the skinners have ANYTHING to complain about: there are countless places you can ski and not see or hear snowmobiles but on the flip side I dont know ANYWHERE you can snowmobile that people arent allowed to skin

Did 2 laps in the neighborwood by 1030 this am. It was dumping at the car when we left. Snow was still nice and soft and the refresher will be welcomed with open arms. Kinda windy and flat light. No pic TR.
FKNA now that's how it's supposed to work! At the ski area I always carry a tow rope in my pack in case the snow machine operator doesn't have something. At Vail Pass we used a rope tied to a mtb inner tube. Put the inner tube around your waist and you've got something that gives a little and won't tear your back up.Quote:

I'd normally say, "Great, just what that area needs."
But High Sierra Taxi needs some competition. Godawful expensive. Uber would surge price on the busy nights, but still.
That said, fuck Uber. The poster child of corporate assholedom for the modern age.

Was this storm supposed to finish out warm? It was 33˚ at Soda Springs on the drive up tonight.
Went out the last 2 days after being out of town for 10 and found some great snow at the right elevations/exposures. Pumped!

Have a bunch of sledneck friends, have ridden sleds, have been towed by sleds, use sleds in SAR operations. Don't really mind the noise and the tracks can be useful. My only issue is how you can justify the 2 stroke exhaust when there's better technology out there. I know: it's lighter, better power to weight ratio, etc. but there's no way you can tell me it's good to breath. Would appreciate an explanation better than: if you don't like it go somewhere else, because that's exactly what I do.
