Awesome in every way! Hopefully they'll play the next Presidential Inaugural!
Shortly after the news got me -
I was sitting on the hood of my Delta 88 in the Bromley Parking lot hammering long trail double bags listening My favorite JGB tape - over and over and over again...
Thinking to myself - now what. ?

Storyteller makes no choice, soon you will not hear his voice, his job is to shed light, not to master.
Thanks for shedding your light on us Jer.

Gotta be Olampali
People age differently. That said, with regards to The Dead, I can see the young(er) Jerry in the old(er) Jerry, the young(er) Bob in the old(er) Bob. Likewise for Phil and Mickey. But Bill, even though over the recent years I've gotten used to how he looks now, I still have trouble seeing his younger self in there. It's like at some point he just became a different guy. Am I tripping?
Regardless, I did read Deal a while back, and thoroughly enjoyed it. And I also appreciate his ruminations on music and the whole Dead thing.

He shaved the mustache and lost weight as older folks tend to do.

Every time someone gets turned onto the Grateful Dead, a Billy gets it's Strings.

I got off the bus 4 nights before that.
Summer ‘90 was fun (until it wasn’t). Not as good as ‘89 but they were still sharp.

Somewhere west of pagosa springs. Peeps that I was with found out one or two days later on a trip into town. Spent most of that evening/night at a bar. Several of us weren’t 21 yet. The bartender didn’t care. Grateful for the friends to mourn with at that time and for those that got us safely back to camp that night.
Bobby was playing with Rat Dog in my hometown. My wife was "wicked" pregnant so we didn't buy tics. We went down and hung out in the back lot of the casino ballroom with a shitton of other deadheads and as many cops. The cops were prepared for a riot and everyone just sat and hung peacefully burning candles and listening to Bobby. It was wonderful and horrible all at the same time.
I'll never forget how many yrs Jerry has been gone as my first son was born in '95. The weird memory from that night was thinking my kid will never see the Grateful Dead play. It bummed me out.
Do not sleep on TDIGDH 83

OMGOMGOMG, Can we actually take Donna out of the mix?

Yeah, my daughter is always asking me about the boys and it's hard to articulate the essence of the scene to an eight year old. I finally hit some sort of paydirt when I likened their concerts to going to your own birthday party several times a year, only it's everybody there's birthday and the balloons are magic. She seemed to understand.

Love reading reviews - take them all with a grain of salt - not much for the this was my firsts show dude …. But when a fine critical examination pops up it’s worth noting -
“ Jerry has entered the fozzie bear choking on a hot dog vocals period “
Smoking show
An alternative history in which "Rob" McKernan was an original member?

I decided to mix it up with my listening and jump into the 90’s era… glad I did with this show. 6/20/91
I was texting with a friend recently about how I'd noticed a fair amount of GD music being used as the baseball broadcasts on Fox went to commercial, figured there had to be some Deadheads in the truck. He sent me this link. Couple years old, but interesting backstory - not sure if it's been posted before, so...
