Anyone been on the Freeheel life protectors and have some insight on what they ski like?

X-posting my ISO post from gear swap. Scored some 190 DPS wailer rp112 pure's for $85 with one binding ripped out and lost. ISO one Rottefella NTN binding.

Just preordered some Outlaw Xs for my new skis. First time I have paid full retail in probably 15 years. And not coincidentally, also the first time I will have a completely new rig -- skis and bindings that have never seen snow -- in 15 years.
I probably smell bad right now because I have covid and haven't left the house in days. But I can't smell myself so I'm all good.
Couldn't wait until December, huh? Coulda had 'em (probably) for the cost of shipping!
Don't blame ya; the anticipation is killing me too. Not cutting Scarpa a nat's ass worth of slack for delays in TX Comp availability.
No, I couldn't wait, not when pretty new skis showed up on my doorstep today.
Congrats. This was me last season with new skis and t-toes. They were the first unblemished skis I had ever drilled for myself in 30yrs of adult downhill skiing (several for friends and better half, and many of my own XC setups). That first punch with the drill was like going on a first date with a very chic & hot lady.
I won't do the drilling. But I got a guy I pay in bourbon. The guy is used to pay in weed moved to Japan.
It's not working out for him in the weed department, I'm pretty sure, lol. He seems to be doing ok and making the most of his retirement, albeit with some health struggles, but most of that comes from public posts on Facebook, which are not to be trusted.
he seems like he’s doing ok
I think you'll be very happy with the Outlaws. I think you're coming from Freerides? If so, you may want the stiffy springs, but I would start with the double yellow springs and the preload setting on 1 and go from there.
I would sacrifice weed for retirement in Japan.
I mostly ski Freedoms, freerides are on my early season groomer skis. I don't like super active. Probably like a hammerhead #3 kind of guy (to go really old school).
yep
Chez for president!
+1
I have spent way too much time with Chez to know that he would make a horrible, I mean awesome president!
I think his first objective would be to have his 1st lady not nuke America, but AWESOME!
So, Danno, I think you need to lock your gear closet. The folks at Play it Again Sports in So. Burlington have been raiding it and selling it for crack money!

$30.
They came home with me because oddly enough, I need the bindings. Plus, damn, those stickers!!! The tops are all kinds of abused, but fuck it, they have plenty of camber left and very nice looking bases. They've probably never seen kick wax I'm gonna use em as XC skis as part of my physical therapy and fuck the bases hard.
There were a whole bunch of other museum pieces there, including black and yellow super loops and some mid vintage hammerheads.
What's amazing is that everything in the telemark and XC section at that store looked exactly like what I saw at Cochran's ski swap on Saturday. Except everything was $100 more expensive at the ski swap! Seriously. The ski swap was nuts! I didn't buy anything. The only reason I was in play it again was that thing #1 wanted hockey skates. Found a sweet pair for $35.
Wut. I've never owned that ski?
