Sick, where ya playing?

Played my first 18 hole after work round this Monday. Was a beautiful day, warm, clear, save for a passing shower lol, but it felt great to get back out. Bought some new to me irons over the winter and it’s going to be a good year. Making a point to walk more and drink less this season. We’ll see how that pans out. The mushrooms will help for sure…
First couple days w/ just old man: arrival 9 at Old Musselborough Links with hickory clubs. Following day at Dunbar. Then day off for transfer from Dunbar -> St Andrews by way of Edinburgh.
Then join another 8 folks:
- Kingsbarn
- Carnoustie
- Crail Balcomie
- Day off: putting competition at The Himalayas
- St Andrews Castle
- St Andrews Old
Rounds 1-4 (Kingsbarn to Castle) are a 4 day competition--The 2024 Ripple Cup Invitational Qualifier Open Championship--culminating in a Degenerates dinner. Didn't want to complicate all of our first rounds at the Old by adding pressure of such a major trophy.
The boys don't know it yet; but I got custom tees for all, with plenty to go around and leave wherever we embarrass ourselves. https://imgur.com/a/N1sZMba

Looks good, I’ve been lucky enough to have played Carnoustie and Kingsbarns. The latter is absolutely unreal, treasure it!
So what happened to this thread? Too hot for everyone to play lately?
Yep. 98 -100 is too hot for me. Hi of 80 today and a 12:20 tee time.
I been playing a lot. Had a career low 9 of 31…backed it with a 40. I shot par at 5900 yds so moved my regular rounds back a set to 6300 yds. Not a lot more difficult but the precision and focus has to be considerably more.
I typically walk but almost passed out when it was 104 so it’s riding cart in the heat now. I was the only one on the course and the pro shop was closed so thankfully there was a water station with a faucet and I literally took a full body shower under the faucet and soaked my head for a long while. Good to go. Be careful old dudes!
I played Old Works last week, it was hot as hell but fun. Lost 4-5 balls in the rough, that shit is so unforgiving. Big clumps of 2-foot-high grass that just eat balls. The course was very dry.

My home course here in Truckee is Old Greenwood. Getting ready for the PGA event (Barracuda Championship) later this week… course is in great shape and they’ve grown the rough out a bit.
This is normally #9 but for the event they’re swapping 9’s so it’ll be 18.

It’s been a while!
Played Bethpage Green last Monday.
It was my birthday round and I guess I had one too many pregame drinks.
Front 9 gone bad and I got my shit together back 9.

Back is good. Thanks. I don’t even think I about it anymore (that took a long time). Played 27 today in 3 hours. Too hot for most members. I’m really close to some good scores. Your swing looks good. Did you go back to Bandon? Attachment 496690
Been a single digit hcp playing with mostly other single digit hcp players for over 30 years...never seen a hole in one.
Saw two last week [emoji302]
Only one I've ever seen was a lady hacker with a 3 wood at 115 yds. I had one but I didn't see it and it didn't count. Low HC does not increase your Ace index IMHO. Number of GRI's gotta help.
I spent hours and hours remaking my swing back to what it was and putting on my green in the garage. Flat stick was magic, a little luck never hurts, and had my first 9 without a double (or a birdie) for a 38. Won $40 bucks but the next day my HC went from a 16.4 to a 15.5.
I’ve easily had almost 20 hole in ones (edge hangers and lipouts)… still never had one go in. I’ve been a scratch to sub 5 handicap for over 30 years. I’ve made plenty of eagles from the fairway on par 4’s, but with par 3’s it’s no dice. Such a crap shoot.
Way too much of this:

Adding insult to injury, several years back I’m playing with a couple of friends. The 18th hole is a 135-ish yard par 3 and I go first. I stick my shot to about 2 feet. These assholes follow me and make back to back hole in ones. At least I didn’t have to buy drinks…
Got in quick 18 in North Boulder...not sure maybe this belongs in the wildlife thread?
