Good; warm that water back up :)

Look, the turn isn't when things start getting colder instead of hotter - that's the midpoint of summer. The turn is when summer turns to fall. Snow happens in the mountains all year round.
It ain't turning to fall yet. Maybe close, but not yet. So knock it off, ya nutjobs. We all wanna ski. But's it's still summer for god's sake.
Also, that Alta photo is over the top gorgeous.
I agree with "it's fucking August", but the turn doesn't come in October. I mean, read the first post of the thread, made in early August.
The turn isn't when we might get our first snow, it's when we get that sense, that feeling, that winter is coming, the signs of the end of warmth and the beginning of cold. I do not believe that the turn waits till October, pretty much ever, at least not in Colorado.
Back in the 1900's, before the Tik and certainly before the Tok, I remember calling Barnes and Noble the first week of August every year to see if the September issue of Powder was on their shelf yet.
Yup, I think it's usually early September, when summer starts to turn to fall...
Depends on where you live. Upper 40s here this morning and on my job sites the workers are all feeling the "Turn".
Yup. North Central Washington deer are losing their summer coats. It's a slow switch over but the ship feels like she's begun her turn and after a smoky summer I'm alright with that.
The 1st/2nd week of August, the lighting changes and it's when the summer 'leans' towards fall. It was hot AF, but you could tell @ 7600 ft. Now it definitely looks and feels like it with more moisture, 40's in the AM and shorter days. The light quality keeps getting better. It's a great time of year for biking, hiking, golf, camping, etc even through early December. The good snow doesn't usually happen until after Christmas. Then it can last through May, but everyone is heading into spring/summer mode come March when the most snow is in the mountains.
I’m a realist. You can wish all you want but it ain’t here yet.
Cooler mornings and leaves falling on the eastern cascades- definitely a long way to go but a welcome relief. Honoring the passage of seasons feels good, even if I’m not entering the white room

Sorry for your 100 degrees. That’s fucked.
Yeah. I early bumped. I said that when I bumped.
The sane people here are dreaming of it. Can almost taste it.
The earlier sunsets. Some plants changing color. Colder night temps. I’m jonesing.
PS. That wildflower pic is awesome.
I just bought Pon2oons and IKON.
Potential turn jinx.
Not here yet. Major thunder storms and three new fires all between 5 and 10 miles from downtown.
I love how we all assume we live in the same zip code.
Does this count?

For me, it's when the mornings start to feel cold regularly (not just an occasional morning), and the forest is starting to get that decaying smell. That's when I sense the turn. But that's just me.
And that's sometime in September where I live. I'm sure it comes earlier for our Canuckian friends and the like.
Highs below 60 here today. Cold and drizzly all week. Wore a flannel today. Trees are turning. Fruit flies are making an appearance. School started today. Football starts next week. Days are shorter. It’s dark when I go to work.
What more do you want??
The Turn is a state of mind.
This is TGR. There is no consenseless on minds.
