Soft Snow Gymkhana - The Heritage Lab FR110

Just got my R110 today and they are gorgeous!

These look like an improved sickle, which is exactly what I wanted. Definitely more rocker than the sickle but in a good way and does not seem excessive.

Going with Rasta SPX bindings to keep the colour going on this package.

I'm in a 25 Mach1 LV (with the spoiler), so kinda small and kinda upright.... but does someone want to try to talk me out of mounting on the line at -7.5, and not a little bit forward?

I like all the old Rocker2 series on the back line (-5 to -6.5 or so), I like the K108 at +1 (so -10 or -11 or so), BMT122 at +1 (so about -9 or -10), and I like the Reckoner112 on the back line (-5.5 I think), but think I'd like it better at -6.5. I also liked the sickle best on the back line.

I ski mostly neutral and dont want to HAVE to drive a ski all the time, but I can still drive a ski.

In my mind these will replace my K108 for soft daily driving, and I'll probably keep the reckoner as a change of pace soft snow option... So thinking staying back on the R110 keeps some differentiation between the two depending on my mood or what hill I'm at.

I think that given your background, 25 boot, and ski history, going a sootch forward would be money.

If you wanted to mount at say -6.75 I think you would love them there, or -7.5 for a little more directional feel vs the reckoner

Initially I thought I was a bit too forward but after 10 days on them it’s pretty perfect.

Ok cool, I'll go a smidge forward.

Couple of notes/questions...

The dimensions listed for the 181 on the website has the tail at 131mm, which I assumed could not be right when comparing to the larger sizes, and must have been a typo... Confirmed, the tail is 128 to 129mm like the larger sizes.

My straight pull length is actually 179, which is totally fine, but -7.5 would put me at 82cm from the tail (straight pull). Am I correct that 82.75 is based on the assumption of a 180.5 straight pull, and I should start with 82cm as the starting point based on this true length? I.e. assume an equal amount from the front and back has been removed?

My 180 FR110’s are mounted 84cm from tail which is -5.8cm on the 180’s 179.6cm straight pull.

Going to go -6.5 from the ski I have in front of me, which will be about 83 cm from the tail.

I could talk mount points all day.

Yup I calc ~83.3 cm straight pull from tail straight pull assuming your 180 is like mine (179.6cm straight).

179.6/2=89.8-6.5=83.3

So ya go +83cm straight pull from tail and then get into the video game.

That's pretty much exactly what I did... A hair past 83.

Also mounted up some Scimitars, and along with my BMT 122, I've nicely rounded out the full rocker section of my quiver.

I have the 186 FR110 on the way for holiday delivery. I'm old and a traditional-stance skier, have never been a neutral-stance skier. I ski the 186 Enforcer 104, 188 Rustler 11 and 192 Protest all at recommended mount point and haven't felt the need to change them up. Do I mount these at recommended or go -1cm? I am expecting these to be surfy, pivoty, butter-smearing, rocket ships. What's the TGR Collective say?

Ordered the super edition for my outlet 180 cm fr110’s which have inserts at -7 cm for my bsl 295 mm. Ski shop just called saying that they are arrived…

They aren’t as cool as those pit vipers higher up, but I’ll take them

Wasn't really a big fan of the Supercolorway, but that is fantastic!

Took my R110s out for the WROD at lake Louise. Not the ideal conditions for this ski but there are not many rocks and I wanted to get a feel for them.

Intuitive from the first instant, composed. The shape and mount point feel spot on for me.

I had some new-to-me rull rocker Scimitars... And those felt a little "active" not as intuitive... The R110s are better on the WROD than a ski with more effective edge, for some reason!

I was very surprised by how good the FR110s felt on soft groomed. I skied them back to back with Katana 108s, which is one of the best 108s of the past decade for groomers in my opinion. I didn't get the FR110s on steep groomed, where I usually find flaws in full rocker skis.. but on a soft blue "groomer", I could tell they felt more "planted" and less like a banana when flat base than my full rocker Mantras (though Mantras are obviously more precise when on edge being a 100mm Volkl).

FRs absolutely rip in steep off piste conditions, bumps, trees, chutes, and a combo of all of them. They immediately jumped onto my leaderboard. They go right over the top of softer avi debris and have no problem exacting turns/pivots in funky snow. One of the most intuitive skis I've ever tried. I came in hot atop a crest into a steeper section of bumps with a couple trees and more skiers than the previous lap, and my mind quickly found a line to avoid everything...and the skis instantly made it happen. Hero skis. I was thinking 10/10. I had to have a pair.

I need a bit more time, but from my initial experience, 193 FR110s felt more maneuverable/intuitive and much looser than 190 Wildcat 108s. Yet probably more stable off piste, and definitely a lot more damp being much heavier. Definitely not as "jibby" as WC108s though, with that weight.

Have you been on Meridians? If so, can you make a comparison?

I'm looking at the FR110 as a damper Meridian and was pretty set on 186cm but this has me thinking of going longer. I had a 190 WC108 and liked it a lot, but after I got the Meridian I didn't really ski the WC108 anymore because the Meridian is much more maneuverable and fun. Adding some dampness would make it perfect.

No comparison on the skiing but FWIW straight pull tape on 190 wildcats is 187ish, straight pull on MO skis *i believe* is true to their published length.
