At least you tune yours. I'll be on 6 early. Give me a hug...red pants, gray hoodie, yellows SLs
Sounds good... Will be a bit later. Blue puffy, blue hat, white goggles, yellow SLs
Cool. Blue coat, green pants, black fatter than SL skis. And a little guy near by.
has this become the "I've given up and I'm only gonna ski groomers" thread
or the "I've given up and i'm going to Colorado" thread?
cause i thought it was the ski pow and take pics and vids thread.
wtf?

from Alpine last weekend
nice to hang out with TheDad and finally spend some time with TheMom and TheKids - thanks again Josh
great kids
Groomers? I'm back at the bumps of 11. Glorious. Just like Upstate New York bumps.
Now post up so I can watch the vid on my phone during lift rides.
True. Bumps on 11 were prime!
Skier666 could only restrain himself on the sl boards for so long today... Good effort though :)

I love you man! Thanks for getting me out to check my stash. Really nice in Truckee!! Vid coming.
Can someone start a Tahoe BC thread?
Not sure I'd want to go BC at least near KW...all the untracked patches I skied between the rocks at KW was rotten snow full of facets...and it's not going anywhere on the high elevation north facing slopes anytime soon.
I won't mention the rippin' groomers this morning and lack of people but Mild.Bill and I explored everywhere off of chair 6 and was quite surprised on the snow quality and fun. Chamoix is skiing smooth but the landing is solid. Don't bother skiing the lines across from the cave under Sentinel....snow is rotten down to the dirt. Oops and Chamoix skied well and fast until I ripped a toe piece out of my dirt skis...so the SLs were forced to go offpiste.
Pacific crest yesterday.

awesome job! how come when you're on the bike i can see the shadow of your board, but when you're riding, no bike on your back?
FYI. Apparently somebody is fucking things up for the rest of us. $149 seems pretty steep, but I suspect it may just be due to the extenuating circumstances of this "season."

Dear Sugar Bowl Uphill Travel Passholder,
With the recent growth in uphill travel at Sugar Bowl Resort, we need to send a very important message to all current and future users. It is absolutely paramount that all Uphill Travel Passholders adhere to and abide by the rules & regulations set forth in the Uphill Use Policy/Release of Liability that you signed when picking up your pass. We enjoy seeing our guests recreating at Sugar Bowl, be it downhill skiing & riding, XC skating & striding, backcountry pursuits or in-bounds uphill travel, however we need to reiterate that safety starts with you, and as such we need everyone to pay attention to the rules at all times! If not for yourself, for everyone else involved, including our own on-mountain staff and our paying downhill skiing & riding guests.
The recent surge in popularity has caused numerous on-mountain operational issues, all at a cost to the resort, be it signage, labor, stoppage and/or delays in grooming, ski patrol or other. As such, effective immediately, but not retroactive, all Uphill Access Travel Passes at Sugar Bowl will cost $149. The exception to this new policy is that Sugar Bowl season passholders (Unrestricted, Slightly Restricted, Summit Sunday, Midweek, and/or Sugar Bowl-Royal Gorge Combo) will still receive their Uphill Travel Passes free of charge. All other users, $149 for your uphill travel pass and access to the mountain. Again, uphill passholders who already have their pass do not have to pay the $149, only new uphill passes for those who don't already have a Sugar Bowl-Royal Gorge season pass will pay moving forward.
Please remember and obey these very important rules!
Travel in single file form at all times
Respect all closures, warning signs and ropes
No uphill travel is allowed during avalanche control work, or while winch cats are working
Stay at least 100 yards away from all snowcats, snowmobiles, winch cables and snowmaking guns
During operating hours stay to the sides of the trails; pre and post operating hours stay in the middle of the runs
Dogs must be on leashes at all times
Headlamps are required pre and post operating hours
Stay on designated trails only
Uphill travelers must have visible uphill pass on at all times
Uphill travelers assume all risk
Pass is not valid on Royal Gorge XC Trails
No snowbikes are allowed on the mountain
We hope this uphill pass can remain a safe and viable program for all to enjoy, but we need everyone involved to keep safety in mind at all times. There are numerous hazards on the mountain at any given time…please practice common sense and obey all rules & regulations.
Ultimately, management reserves the right to restrict uphill travel at any time, to any users, for any reason. This program will be reviewed at the end of the season for consideration moving forward, so please be smart and please be safe out there!
Sincerely,
Sugar Bowl Resort
Fuck yeah Huck, that's the way to do it. Great way to remind me to get the sand out of my you-know-what and just get out to have some fun.
I owe that session to Pow Dork! Even on the long bike ride in and conditions looked really bad I stayed with it with the stoke boost!
Hopefully Sugar Bowl is just trying to get something out of this dismal season and they will go back to free or vastly cheaper passes next year...or they're just testing things out to see what price the market will bear.
If Sugar Bowl is really having operational issues, then maybe they should enumerate the cause of those issues so they can be avoided. Sure seems more like an economics issue. That said, I do feel a bit guilty making use of the snowmaking and AC for free (but not that guilty), but if I were to shell out $149 for this privilege then I would be feeling a whole lot more entitled than I do now, as in expecting a quality of access and service that I don't currently expect.
To answer my earlier question about uphilling during operating hours, I had a chat with a patroller Sunday who said it hasn't been a problem. I did a couple laps during operating hours and it was pretty snag-free.
SLC this coming weekend isn't looking too likely at this point.
Another weekend on groomers. Yay Tahoe! OTOH, I'm getting some use out of my 210cm Dynastar Course GS...
