I don't now if a snow dance here will help, but I second TeleAl's "SNOW MUDDAFUKKER"
Any reports from St. Anton?
Powslut seems to be too busy with any of the following:Quote:

Sorry for the lack of st anton reports lately...it's mostly because there is nothing to report here. Hasn't snowed since franz klammer left two weeks ago and temperatures have been relatively warm so the south facing slopes are taking a beating. It's supposed to snow tomorrow but how much accumulation will transpire remains to be seen.
Base wise it's still holding together and with some significant snowfall things will be really good again.
Here's a Chamonix update for you, don't kill the messenger. Basically, it sucks. The last snowfall was back on January 19th - more than two weeks back. That snow stayed good until around 10 AM, when the warm temperatures and hurricane force winds started blowing and stayed like that for well over a week. The result is we have lots of bare patches even at high elevation, the glaciar has a frightening amount of bare ice showing, and evil satstrugi formations and windslab ice are the norm everywhere.
The ice climbing, however, has been really great especially since it's been sunny every day since the 19th of January! And I don't imagine it will stay like this ALL winter... even a single 30-50cm dump would keep me happy for a long time and open up some big touring possibilities, like the Trois Mont Blancs, Haute Route, etc.
In other positive news, avalanche danger is a big ZERO and if you like moguls, Chamonix fucking rocks right now.
Well hello what's this:
"Wednesday : disturbance coming from the northwest in the afternoon. Thursday and Friday : snow showers."

Could one of the snow-forecast subscribers post some weather map porn saying we're gonna get an epic 3m dump PLEASE?
next 3 days...Quote:

30-50cm at your favourite alpine region on mon/tues. brought to you by: NW weather. ;)
NW/Nerly airflow will probably dominate the rest of the week too. it should clear by sat/sun.
sooo very likely ill be heading out east on tuesday evening. anybody out there ?

ON a brighter note, doc just stopped by my room and said likely 6-8 weeks I can ski - mellow stuff. Spring touring season here I come!
heal up well. ++++++++
this "swelling in my brain" TR stuff made me scared.
Subtle, I think there's a market for your weather predictions. You should whore yourself out as the "Freeskiing Weather Guru" to ARD, ZDF, SRG and in particular ORF.
hoorray, its snowing.
whoring is one of my favourite activities ;)
concerning the mid/long term: western/SW drift may break through after sunday.
sooo la grave/cham might get some and it would get warmer.
But: This week is a kripp week for sure.(and i hope my mid/long term prediction is wrong because wat to stay longer than 5 days... :( )
if its starts snowing elsewhere maybe i can steal some money somewhere, finish my paper early(due date april 3rd) and go to france in march.....
oh yes. it is indeed.Quote:

Fuck Chamonix is getting screwed again.
Hmm maybe good time to ski tour Piz Bernina... anybody up for it? Anybody know what conditions are like? General wisdom says too early for 4000m peaks but general wisdom tends to neglect seasonal weather anonmolies - it hasn't snowed in weeks and so avo danger is a big ZERO right now, at least here in Cham'... if it snows there 100cm this could be a problem, if it gets 30cm, it could be magic.
I'm free to do it any day of the week/weekend. Need a car to make it really work, probably... bring your own sleeping bag, we do the winter rooms at huts, bring your part of the food, I can bring the stove. We drive up from Geneva area or wherever on Day 1, do the hike into the hut, summit and back Day 2.
