What other ski does the AM100 remind you most of/replace/supercede?
Will be getting my pair soon, but they won't see snow till July or August. Really curious, though (no shit!).
In other retarded news, I'm considering paring my quiver down to:
- 187 HL 100AM
- 192 LP105
- 187 Praxis MVP
- 187 Praxis Protest

Sorry if this is answered elsewhere in the thread, but I couldn't find it: what are the edge bevels on the am100s if we got them before MO started offering different tunes? Mine need to be sharpened up after taking some woods run in light cover...

Ripped my AM100s on low tide firm as shit conditions at Purg on Sunday. Some of the firmest conditions I can ever remember mid-winter here, and I the AM100 made it not only tolerable, but quite fun! This ski is the ski I didn't know I needed.
So as we approach the pre-sale deadline, I'm thinking about another HL ski (or two). Currently have the FR110 and had some great days on them, they were exactly what I was looking for in soft snow. But now in CA we haven't really had snow in a month and this reminds me that we can have pretty lousy off piste conditions between storms, at least until spring.
The FR110 is a great "few days after a storm" ski, looking for something that's more of a "few weeks after a storm" ski. So probably like > 50% groomers but more bumps and trees if things warm up. This would probably also get a lot of use for spring skiing. Is the AM100 my ski? Currently I ski a M102 for this purpose.
Also considering an RC85 since I don't have any 80 mm skis right now, but maybe that's just the high pressure talking. Or maybe both. Mostly skiing Palisades/Alpine.
Thoughts?
As a compliment to the FR110, the AM100 makes perfect sense. It's more engaged, easy to put on edge, but still has that "loose" feel off edge. For a 50/50 firm groomer to chalk, low tide off-piste ski that compliments and plays off the best aspects of the FR110... the AM100 is your unicorn. If you want a more directional 80%+ firm goomer ski the RC85 seems like a great choice. The one ski that might bridge that gap is the RC95... really depends on how directional you want to go in this quiver slot.
Smiley is right on - Ive got FR110, AM100 and RC85 and he describes the use cases for each perfectly.
Only thing I’ll add is that RC85 is more of a “game on” ski, so I normally only ski it when I know the groomers will be less crowded and I won’t be skiing with my kids

I have the HB One Twenty Two, R One Twenty, FR One Ten and the AM One Hundred….totally agree with Smiley. The AM perfectly compliments the FR One Ten and is now my main low tide ski in the current Whistler conditions. I also have a Head SuperShape e-Titan but I prefer ripping groomers on the AM One Hundred or Season Aero (Aero is ninety-six mm underfoot, with metal). Mantra 102 is probably a little more precise as a carver, but its negligible. AM100 is way more damp and easier to pivot quickly.

MO’s build quality, tune, and customer service blows all 4 out of the water as well

This is where I'm at too. 3+ week dry spell has me looking to fill a quiver spot. Currently leaning RC95 because it seems a bit more hard snow oriented. Compared to the AM100, it has more camber, less rocker, a little stiffer, and a longer radius, which all sounds pretty damn fun. It seems like a reasonable assumption that the RC95 will be better on groomers, and better going fast through off groomed crud. I'm guessing the AM100 would be better in softer snow and easier to noodle around on. Basically, the AM100 seems more versatile, at the cost of being really good at anything in particular (which is basically the definition of an all mountain ski).Quote:

Go for the RC95. Looking for a more progressive mount with a longer more supportive tail and a more slashy ride in tight terrain? Go for the AM100.

I have the Reighty seven comp so I went for the am one hundy
Only skied a groomer and some skiing with the kids this past Sunday but I loved the stability and quietness of the AM hundies

Will she actually like the skis? No idea...but she needs a fatter ski and they sound like they might work for her. And they are pretty.
For me, I kind of want an alpine ski in this slot and they sound fun. Something between my 84mm Stockli Monteros and MVP 108s. The stocklis rip low tide, but require a fair amount of effort and concentration off piste, especially in old/heavy snow...not much for noodling around (and also there's a tension between trying to keep their edges razor sharp and skiing them over crap...). The MVPs don't feel like they range as far down as my prior 104 underfoot daily drivers, so there's an opening in the ~100 range.
