I do hope they can figure out some sort of a merger to maintain power 5 status but it's going to be a rough ride. I feel bad for the Beavs , just as they were turning the corner and now they'll be financially limited moving forward.
I’m super bummed the pac is dead. But wazzu and osu played a major part in its death. They massively over valued themselves and their presidents were some of Larry Scotts biggest backers (along with ASU). The entire pac thought they were way more valuable than the market dictated. If the smaller schools would’ve taken 3/4 shares to keep it together, it would still be together. Instead of having a 20 million dollar payment and an intact pac they get 5-6 million and the mountain west. Complete failure of leadership.Quote:

I don't know if it's fair to blame the demise of the Pac12 on OSU and WSU not being willing to take 75 cents on the dollar relative to the "big" programs. I assume U of Ore would've needed to do that as well since it's not a big program either. It's just a shitty situation all around.
ETA: another good one with Ryen R. and David Shaw on Stanford and PAC12 demise. Basically he confirms that Stanford submarined the negotiations because they wanted more money. I like Shaw, but interesting to hear him confirm that.
