Nooooooo. Once you've convinced yourself that tapping is fun, tapping is fun. Fwiw, I tap only 2-3 mm in, seems to help. Tapping-good, pullouts-bad.

So I should use the same protocol on all three of my upcoming Hertiage Labs mounts?
R87, FL105, FR110: 4.1 +/- tapping?
Please, please, please keep the good mounting plate. Tapping is definitely worth it when the ski is on its 2nd or 3rd mount in a few seasons time.
Very tempted by the c105 and would love to hear reports from Mags on how it skis. I’ve got a beat set of VWKatanas as a reference point.
Any incoming availability on a c105?? … asking for a friend
Anyone else install BF inserts? I travel a lot, so I've installed inserts in all my skis and I'll be doing the same on both the FL105 and the FR110. Can't imagine there would be any issues, but never hurts to ask!

I got out on my C105’s on a groomer day; not my ideal first day for this ski but conditions weren’t bad and I really wanted to sample them. Conditions were edgable groomers, soft snow where there had been enough traffic to break up the crust, and everywhere else was a sturdy crust.
I just got a few laps, so there’s certainly more to learn- but i found them lively and nimble, easy to carve or pivot, and actually pretty composed for a 1500 gr carbon touring ski on occasionally challenging snow. They were sharp enough that I had difficulty getting them to cut loose and smear/drift, so when I got home I gave them a few swipes with a gummi stone. On firm snow it may take me a few more laps to get comfortable with the sensation of full rocker, but old habits from my katana days worked. Overall they felt damn good and I think they will be amazing as I get more used to them! I’ll be back with more thoughts after more skiing.
Side note for pin binders- weight the ski when you set heel gap to flatten out the rocker underfoot. I had very little pin in my boot when I stood on them for the first time.

If anyone is looking for the ultimate shred-machine DD's, I have a returned pair of 185 FL105s that were only skied one day. They are drilled once at -4.5cm for P18 ~315mm, so they have basically a blank slate to put any binding on there with no hole conflicts. Happy to check holes and confirm your binding / BSL fits without issue too. PM me if interested.
Yeah, it’s a shop mess up… asked for 80.75 mount, got 87.5 mount! Gotta DIY.
anyhow, lots of interest, headed up for a couple laps now, so I’ll go by first timestamp asking for payment details. Thinking $500 shipped on em!
My friend beats that. He asked for his 186 OG LPs to be mounted at true center. The shop did.

Miss-mounts are sold, thanks for all the interest everyone!
Lil more beta. 178 FL105 is ~2cm > than 180 Comp R99’s
I've gotten a couple of days on the 192s. One would think they're just cambered mini 113s, but as it happens, they really are different beasts.
1) as turn willing as the LP105s, but more stable going straight, given the ludicrous sidecut on these things. I have exactly zero days on the 185s as of now, but willing to bet they are more apt for a direct comparison to the LP105s.
2) willingness to plane to the surface is more pronounced in these than with the 113s, which really isn't much of a shock given their rocker/camber profile. So, more forgiving doing slower turns in knee deep pow, but not quite the chop destroyers going 60mph the 113s are.
As I've divulged previously, I also have a pair of FL105s with the FL113 rocker profile. I'm very curious as to which profile is more universally good, but time will tell.
They're awesome. My legs are fucked, though. Not enough preseason workout, combined with new boots makes for a sad day after.
Cheers lads.

That mismount has me paranoid! I just moved and haven't built up a bench yet. So no DIY mount for me. The shop I'm going to use is good, but I've used good shops before with bad results. Standard mount on the 185 FL105 is -11.5? Anything else I should tell the shop guy?
Measure yourself, place tape, draw line on tape for midsole. Tell shop to mount on that line.

Measure, mark, double check, and sharpie your line on the ski ... then bring em to the shop!
Confirm the straight tape length (should be ~184.5cm), measure from tail to mark the center point (blue or silver sharpie). The measure back from that. Mark a solid full width line with a ruler where you want them to mount.
I'd say -11.5 is the standard mount and -12.5 would be the "traditional/directional" mount. I don't think anyone is going forward on these to my knowledge.

Go see Chance @ the Starting Gate - we measured mm’s & put the boot on / off the topsheet several times to get the mount correct. We landed at 77cm from the tail - Just as Marshal suggested for me on the 178 w a 25.5 boot.

Thought folks might enjoy some more low-tide FL105 stokeQuote:
Just dropping you a quick note to say thanks: the FL105 is exactly as advertised, perhaps even a bit better. It rocks firm conditions but is a joy in soft snow, and absolutely has taken over the DD role in my quiver. I skied it for the first time a few days ago at Revelstoke, and the conditions were a mixed bag. Lots of soft snow off piste, deep in spots, with some firm and fast groomers that turned to spring-like slush down around mid-mountain. The FL105 handled everything well, although some of the snow was just too deep, probably more for my legs than the skis themselves. I turned duties over to my Moment Countach(s) the next three days, and they really shined in snow that became a little deeper each day.
Well, we moved over to Lake Louise for the remaining three days of our trip, and the conditions there were very different: firm, boilerplate in places, but with lots of chalk to be found. I skied the FL105 each day and they were just killer. Absolutely crushed everything in their path, making transitions between varying snow mindless. Superb grip, and while I had no problem bending them into various turn shapes when necessary, man did they come alive when I opened them up and let them run. Just hip-dragging GS turns that were a blast.
I was looking for something to take the place of my M102s, as I found them to ski and sound a bit harsh, and the FL105 is so much smoother and warmer. And, as an added bonus, none of the occasional hookiness I get with the M105 and their big shovels/shorter turn radius. The FL105 is a dream.
I mounted my 178cm version 78cm from the tail, which on my pair comes in around -10.75. If I were to do it over again, I'd go -10.5, but I'm being really nitpicky. Oh, and as for construction, I hit a rock on Day 1 that would have sent most skis to their grave. The boys in the repair shop at the base of Revy were able to slap some ptex in a gaper of a hole and send me on my way. Absolutely built like a tank.
Can't wait to find an opportunity to try out the FR110, but in the meantime I'm wondering if I need to pick up a spare pair of the FL105! They really are that good.
Sorry for the long rant... thanks again!
Adding to the review as I got out on my fl105s today. East coast, mix of some freshly blown and ungroomed EC's finest, to some of that which has been polished to a fine sheen. I echo a lot of what was said above. First turn is always a tell for me, and it just felt good. At some point early on, I eventually stopped being suspicious of them and just skied. Anything and anywhere I felt comfortable and good on them. Two thumbs up. Fwiw, 184s mounted on the line.
If any more 185 FL105s with the FL113 rocker ever get pressed by mistake, i'd be quite interested in that setup!
My C105s have been great so far, I was worried about dropping down to a 178 but no concerns with stability yet and they're a joy on the uphill. Now we just need more snow so I can see how they do in 3D snow rather than windboard or dawn patrol groomer fitness skinning.
Marshal or anyone with the BC105, how thick are the edges and the base? Apologies in advance if already answered prior, I couldn't find anything.
