And quite a smell it is.
It's really not that big a jump

Made a Costco run today.
Must be a lot of bats in that cave.
If this turns out to be carp herp someone should really keep tabs on SFB.
Is it transmitted through catfish oral fisting? Asking for a friend.
She says you’re safe

Sealing the tunnel is kind of a disturbing image. But maybe they're just gonna grow themselves some bats.
The last plane out

It’s not a hospital. It’s a cookbook!

Chinese built 1000 bed hospital in 4 days. Hows that for health care?

I like that guys comment below. “Meanwhile in the west, people are fighting plastic, which prevents the spread of germs”
So true. We like to tell everyone how to live, after we’ve achieved first world status.

Short story from a 2012 oct/nov issue of Asimov’s Science Fiction about some young adults under quarantine during a flu outbreak in San Francisco. A buddy gave me the old copy a month or two ago.
They heard you were coming.

Yeah, funny, asshole.
Somebody should paint a black silo shape of wile coyote on that thing, just to inject some comedy into a grim situation.

Perhaps a world wide pandemic where 1,000,s of suburban white people die would have a positive affect. Unifying the world governments in a war with a common enemy.
You first.
Chinese are taking a page from Trump and building many walls.
Chinese reported 2019-nCoV cases continue to skyrocket with a consistent CFR of >2%. China has instituted draconian public health measures including a cordon sanitare affecting over 65 million people, bans on work and public gatherings. Several countries have blocked most regular travel from China. Incubation is 2-14 days averaging 10, so I’d hope to see a blunting of the exponential growth curve by early February if these public health measures are effective.

The virus has spread to every continent except South America. USA has no travel restrictions, but is screening some incoming air passengers. Suspected cases are being isolated and tested with contact monitored in confirmed cases. There are 5 confirmed cases in the USA and over 100 under investigation. There has not yet been a documented secondary transmission in the USA.
Time will tell if public health measures are successful. If so, global deaths will be limited to the 100s. If not, the consequences are difficult to predict with a worst case scenario being a global pandemic with as many fatalities as the influenza pandemic of 1918.
Historically speaking, China has a knack for wall building.
second. he's such a sweetie for posts like that.
luckily, despite the Chinese being around for 5,000 years; it's been mostly white men making medical breakthroughs and eliminating disease and is the same in the case as all news seems to be saying china is behind and the CDC is the one leading the way on this virus.
As soon as secondary transmissions occur outside of China, it becomes drastically more difficult to contain the outbreak and to screen patients based on travel history.
This morning Germany confirmed a secondary transmission of 2019-nCoV. This development is very concerning.
WHO should declare an emergency. International travel should be curtailed. Anyone coming from China should be quarantined for 2 weeks.
what exactly has been debunked?

"With medical facilities in short supply, the local government has also pledged to build a new 1,000-bed hospital in 10 days, and vowed that another new 1,300-bed hospital would be ready by the middle of next month. It is taking a page out of the government’s playbook during SARS, when it built a new hospital in Beijing in just a week."
Whether they actually accomplish it is another story.

I guess you haven't been around an American medical school lately.
We could have a discussion about why technological and scientific hegemony has occurred at different times in different parts of the world, but I doubt you'd actually care. Suffice it to say that it has nothing to do with skin color; as far as whether white men are intellectually superior, you're proof that we're not.
Western medicine probably killed more than it helped until the around the mid 1800s.
And yet here we are up against shark-fin rhino-horn soup with snake gall bladder blood basted fried bat eaters.
Gotta keep that virility up.
