All of the campgrounds will be open, but Missoula is sort of notorious for not having great camping close to town, considering that it is entirely surrounded by public land. You might consider looking at places up the Blackfoot, or getting a room downtown, where there are a bunch of new hotels. The Missoula downtown area is pretty damn cool these days, and you can get round-trip shuttles to the Amphitheater from the Top Hat, which is right in the middle of downtown. This is a good option if you are planning to have a few beers.Quote:

Biking season is obviously prime in September. Depending on what you are looking for, there is anything from shorter rides starting in town, to decent longer rides in the Rattlesnake (10 mins from downtown) to nearby shuttleable big rides (Carleton Ridge to Mill Creek, which gets you almost 5000' feet of descending with an 1800' climb). Also, by September, the situation at Marshall Mountain, which is halfway between downtown and the venue, will be all set and there are some pretty good mountain bike specific trails there. Everything is on Trailforks.
Got Red Rocks tix and they just announced another show on the 12th.
Just picked up tix today to Levitate (music festival) and am finally going to see Billy Strings this summer! psyched.
...and I just found out I got tickets to the Newport Folk Festival's kinda pop-up festival on their secondary marketplace, so I'm gonna be seeing Billy Strings twice this summer. Summer's shaping up!
He was just featured in the music section of the latest Thrasher mag. not really my thing, but neat article regardless! apparently he's a skater.
My wife follows all the music forum drivel and she told me he actually caught a bass fishing a backstage pond during set break at one of his recent shows.

Fun show last night at Champlain Valley Expo. Mrs P and I met up with Vt-F and ml242’s bro.
The set list was a little weak, but there were definitely highlights. Thunder that closed set 1 was fantastic as were June Apple and Must Be Seven in the second set. We all left with a chuckle as If Your Hair’s Too Long was the closer.

Saw him again yesterday for the second time (also the second time in 2 weeks). The first show was at the Newport Folk Festival's toned-down 2021 version, and it was straight-up bluegrass, maybe in deference to the venue/history? I love bluegrass, and they were very good but honestly I was wondering what people were going on about with this cat, I've seen better bluegrass shows.
Which is not a knock, I used to live near the Birchmere in Virginia and go there a lot in the '80s and '90's and all the bluegrass greats played there. Still play there. Shit I saw Bill Monroe there and he basically invented bluegrass. I saw Ralph Stanley there. etc. etc.
Two weeks ago it was a really top-notch bluegrass show, period. After yesterday I get it. Completely different than the first time. Jammed the fuck out of some songs I don't know the names of. It was outside or he woulda torn the roof off the place. Pretty amazing show. Bought tickets to another show today. I'm in. Now I gotta learn the names of some of the songs.

Had not seen BMFS since Pine Creek 2019. 150ish people. Last night at a sold out Kettlehouse Amp. 4,250 people. Amazing where these guys have come. The crowd energy is still there. There's still that vibe in the air that this band is really doing something special.
