Wish I had seen this when I went up this morning. Took a few mild shots this morning. But it was starting to fill in nicely. Only did one lap on the Cone, and called it. Other projects that needed attention. But it was a nice medium density 8" of powder. Was really dumping the whole time. Even some light flurries down in Bend during the morning and into the afternoon.Quote:

timberline and i will likely go once solo during the week (short and sweet 9-1 back in pdx by 3ish to take care of the boy) and saturdays with the family. i haven't figured out my weekday yet.

Had a great day up at Hoodoo yesterday. I was not the only one enjoying the windless sun and the freshies. Good snow! I skied half way down Face with good coverage. Didn't go farther since I was worried about getting stranded in the Manzanita mazes down lower. There was at least 2 feet on most of the hill. No rocks. Only problem...no lifts to ride... soon.

There is one big bit of good news though…this wet pattern for the lowlands will turn into a heavy snow in the Cascades. Snow levels through Sunday generally remain above the passes, with a good foot or more accumulating at the ski resorts above 5,000′. Then we get a HUGE dumping Monday through Friday next week. ECMWF shows a solid 3-4 feet snow at/above pass elevations:
Even if we get half of that, there’s a good chance we’ll have some decent skiing starting up the weekend before Thanksgiving. If so, that’ll be fantastic to get the ski season started in mid-November!

Any of you Oregon mags ski much in SOUTHERN Oregon? I'm going to be spending a good bit of time in Ashland at my parent's place over xmas and am looking for beta on Mt Mcloughlin, Crater Lake, and anything within 1-1.5 hour drive of Ashland?
Busted. And you are just basing this off my day's post count. What you don't know is I took a long lunch and picked up a new pair of boots. (To my surprise, last years model was available in the boot I liked, and saved myself 200...) The boots I'd been on for the last few years were my entry level\cheap ski boots to get me back on two planks, to help the little guy. Little did I know my love for two planks would come back. It was time to step it up to stiffer boots, and a better fit. This is a long winded way of saying...watch out. The allusive smooth carve is incoming this year!!!!!!!!Quote:
