Looking good. Anyone know if Rose is doing any mountain ops stuff this week? Couldn't see this morning from my house in washoe valley. l'll probably be up there before work tomorrow morning.
Anyone heading up to shasta this weekend? Looks like they caught the brunt of this thing...
Rose vs Boreal for first open?
Rose calling for 10/31 opening. http://mynews4.com/news/local/mt-ros...to-open-oct-31
Shasta is stacked https://www.snowcrest.net/camera/ Snoner is turned up to 11.
Awesome news fellas! Hope you guys finally have a good snow fall season!
Rose area was a blast today. Stoked to get some October turns in. Conditions as reported. About a foot down lower near the highway, improves as you climb. Id recommend going sooner than later as it won't last down low. Will probably stick around up higher on N-NW slopes. Take this storm into account if it does, could create a rotten base for avy conditions come next storm.

Damnit. This is why I need to move up there full time. Just ripped up some hero dirt on the mountain-bike but that's making me jealous.
Ahhh white slidey stuff, was hoping to find photo evidence. Thanks for the stoke
This is right above the highway summit parking lot

Extra ticket to first decent at art haus tonight .
Sweet mags, get on it.
Did a night mission at Rose Resort on Monday. Both the snow and the moon were amazing. What else was super cool was how many skiers we saw out there: others at resort, lights (full on NiteRider) descending Tamarack, and a couple other headlamps near the summit. So fun that everyone was getting it.
Still good today...didn't hit a thing...a bit tracked but that's a first world problem.
Apparently a tree fell on a cable recently and damaged a lift at KW; not sure which conveyance. The fix will likely involve replacing a pylon.
Where is the snow line currently? Wondering if it's still worth bring my Mtb up with me this weekend. Tahoe City area.
^^ It must be rising fast with the temps, but my friends up there have been doing jackass loops instead of yogis if that helps. So I'm guessing Painted Rock and the top of Watson are holding snow.
But I'd still bring the bike.
Ya, I was thinking of trying to squeeze in a painted Rick/missing link lap, but from the Squaw alpine cams I think they are probably holding a bit too much snow.
How is it up on Mt Rose Summit right today? I went up on Tuesday and it was nice. Thinking about going up tomorrow if much hasn't been lost.
Probably doesn't belong here but I have a couple pair of good rock skis free to anyone willing to pick up in Santa Cruz. Good bases and no binders . The mantras are 184 and the gots are 186?PM for deets

"First decent" is a great flick. The first Rockwood premiere I have been to. Makes you realize how good we have it living where we do! I hope he keeps making vids
Yum. Nice trailer
The second 5 mile section of 88 was getting paved today, this one goes past the Shot Rock passing lanes.
The first section is completed.
Silver Lake to Kirkwood Inn has been stripped down, looks like they may get it finished before winter and cover the disaster of the power line trenches.
Anyone have a line on a couple's spot in a SLT/Myers/KW ski lease?
So what's the story at Kirkwood?

I posted on their Facebook page, we'll see if they answer. If Vail is just going to sit on their thumbs they need to get called out for it before the season starts. I buy an Epic Tahoe Local pass in addition to Squawlpine so I have windy day storm skiing at Northstar *and* access to Kirkwood. If Kirkwood isn't going to have Cornice operational (meaning all the other chairs will have Heavenly-ish lines) I'd rather just get a pass at Homewood for windy days.
Powdork isn't just famous on the internet:

Nice shot. Glad to see you recognized. Will they have an exhibition of winter photography?
THAAAAAAANKS FOR CALLING KIRKWO....CHINA PEAK!!! After running the infrastructure at Kirkwood into the ground, we sold it to those poor suckers at Vail. Since I took over at China Peak, I kind of miss giving the morning snow phone updates at Kirkwood though. Thankfully, I won't have to do that this year, "...chair 6 is still fucked...I mean not working..." That said, if you like running lifts, just drive down Hwy 99 a little ways and we'll take good care of you at our family resort.
Money will not be the issue fixing chair 6 at Kirkwood. That is not something Vail Resorts would neglect or delay. Weather and terrain conditions might affect repairs but it won't be funding.
From the info I received 4matic is correct and they are on top of the situation with repairs/tests being a priority.
^^ Craigslist typically has a good number of them.
