Oh, statistics matter. I'm just not taking any chances up there. And please explain this, from a few years ago.

That is a lot further south than the Whites, my friend, and that was 6 years ago.

I am really enjoying this thread, but missed something. Is there really a selfie with a gun in the waistband?
OP- putting aside for a moment the question of "why?", could you explain how? As in- How did you lose your gun?
There was no selfie, just people here being douches as usual. It was secured in a holster during my trip (in a level 3 retention holster), and during the fall the gun broke free from the holster (trigger finger release, thumbreak, and pull gave away). When I got up it was no where to be found. Someone found it and I'm on my way up to meet with the State Police, Fish and Game, Ranger Services, and the guy who found it to get it back.
This!
I'm glad you weren't more seriously injured or worse but do yourself a favor and drop the wolf shit, it's not going to get you anywhere. You can legally carry a gun in NH so carry if you want but be more responsible about it and don't make it out to be a core thing, nobody gives a shit that you carry. You're damn lucky you didn't Plaxico yourself during the fall and if you haven't thought long and hard about that already you definitely need to wake the fuck up. There are a shit ton of people on here that spend a lot more time up there than you ever will and if there were wolves (note the plural) around it would be well publicized, but that's not the case, period. Sure there could be an occasional loner around, but the chances of that loner requiring you to protect yourself from it are minuscule at best and chances are it would be long gone before you ever even knew it was there.
Shit. I have to buy a gun to go into the BC now?
This is the only thing I have learned from this epicness.
I carry a bow and a full quiver of arrows. It is like the Hunger Games up there you know. Every man for himself, and WILD ANIMALS!
This is what I'm saying, your prepared for a 1 in a 1,000,000 occurrence but you didn't apply that same methodology to the rest of your trip. In the 21st century two people no where near NH have died from Wolves, a hell of alot more have died falling down shit in the whites, you prepared for the first but not the latter.
First there is a pack of wolves about 300 miles from NH, occasionally in spring an adolescent male will get booted from the pack, generally for putting his wolf dick somewhere it doesn't belong. These fellows can get pretty far out hence the MA and other sightings. Guns are cool, I'm sure it gets your dick hard to run around the Whites hot but it's exceedingly rare that you will ever use it and they are heavy, leave that shit at home.
Second, you will need to use your head, your lucky and young so right now you can take alot of dumbness but your ass is gonna get old so your better get smart, preferably sooner than later. I ain't shitting on you, your gonna fuck shit up I mean there is a certain amount of shit you just learn as you go but your mindset needs a slight adjustment if you want to play this game long term and just to be successful in life in general.
Dude I once filled a stove with diesel fuel for a three night winter camp, sometimes you just fuck shit up, it's human nature.
Big fuckin deal. We have wolves all over MN. They don't bother people. You, however, DO, tard.
Take up proctology - perhaps you can find a way to remove your head from your ass.

Good thing the wolves didn't find the gun.
So did you manage to keep hold of the shark repellent in your fall?
Op, be sure to report back about your meeting soon before this thread goes terminally Rog.
I think the most amazing part of this thread is that Rog had an insurmountable lead in the biggest douche on the internet contest and then out of left field Lil Tupac shows up and just blows his ass out of the water.
You never know where those suckers turn up...

This is becoming one of the greatest threads on TGR.
Bow and arrow, pfft - I use a sat phone to call in a drone strike
OP please post a trip report of the meeting to recover your gun. Will this occur in a large auditorium? I'm sure every cop, warden and ranger in NH wants to hear your story first hand. Parents may want to bring their children too.
Edit to add - BGnight, if he skis hi consequence lines naked where will he keep his gatt? No way he could get it out of his pack fast enough for a Bigfoot attack.
How do threads achieve HOF status? I'd like to bring this thread to the attention of whatever committee makes that call and ask that they begin monitoring immediately.
This guy could also be an option for a NH based reality show if there's any TV producers out there.
There are talks of televising the entire event... maybe even a re-enactment or show sponsored by the NH Old Man of the Mountain Caretaking Committee:

The constitutional right to arm bears does not extend to wolves.
OP, about that gun: Plenty of gun owners on this board myself included, but your case has a few weaknesses.
First off, plenty of folks here spend a lot of time in the NE BC. Of all the safety equipment one might carry, a gun for protection against wolves is, to be honest, a bit silly.
Second, "I'm just not taking any chances up there" is pushing it a little, don't you think? Have you read your story?
Last, the general premise that you having a gun in the NH BC is a good idea would be a heck of a lot stronger, had you not lost your gun. Your constitutional or god given right to carry really doesn't factor in.
Thanks for posting your story in the first place. You must have realized you would get some feedback. Consider accepting some of it. Hope you heal quickly, and that at some point you take what you can from the experience.
