i think that's too far away from beaver creek, even grouse mountain. i'm thinking about 4 mi SSW of eagle-vail. either way, the report looks good for the next 48 hours.

Point forecasts can be a tad inaccurate imho. If you are really interested in getting the most accurate forecast for that zone, click on Gore/Elk Central Valleys forecast.
told my boss today that I have a Dr. appointment on Thursday morning! WoooHooo.
Incoming system looks good with high end advisory amounts in most of the northern and central mountains. NW flow looks to kick back up Thurs night through Saturday with modest accumulations.
Next week after Tuesday looks ass cold with a big polar front slamming into the mountains. probably more cold than snow, however.
is ass cold, kinda like Butt Hurt cold?
From the 1:00 snow report, it looks like Vail/BC/Steamboat are getting the best of this storm.
where are these 1pm reports you speak of?
I thought they updated at 2PM, not 1PM. Anyway....FYI
Wednesday 6AM report:
Abasin - 1"
Breck - 2"
Keystone - 2"
Vail - 5"
BC - 3"
Wednesday 2PM report:
Abasin - 1"
Breck - 3"
Keystone - 2"
Vail - 9"
BC - 9"
Come on MS, you don't know about these? :)
Coloradoski.com updates the snow totals between 12:30 and 2:00 every afternoon- as posted above, Vail and BC reported 9".
what a JONG I am, I didn't know about those, sweet something else for me to obsess over.
Yeah, something else to monitor. For example Vail got 9" at 2PM, so subtract 5" from 9" which equals 4". Check the snow report at 6AM and subtract the 4", so now you know approximately how much snow fell overnight (well at least from 2PM to 6AM)
You skiing tomorrow at Vail or BC? I'm going to check the weather report in the morning and make a decision. So far, no one to ski with.
I may be heading up to Vail or BC if they report a bunch.... decision will be made in the morning. I'm thinking MS will be out for a few hours for sure.
yep, out for a few hours in the morning. Have to be down valley iin the afternooon. Khaki pants, grey coat with some orange. Red Helmet with "change for a nickel" sticker on front. Nordica Beasts more than likely.
and oh yeah, this storm had way more moisture than it looked like. Still snowing currently.
223" in Aspen so far according to my unofficial numbers.
Wolf Creek.... 283" so far, and I'm pretty sure they started getting snow 5-6 weeks ago too. Sick. (obviously not my home hill though)
Crested Butte around 220ish. Clearly the best since 96/97.
Now if only Frank Coffey and the rest of ski patrol would just put something in that ballsack they carry around, we could ski the goods. (Had to vent- everyone's pretty pissed that Phoenix/Spellbound has been closed for a week, including some folks on patrol. Part of the problem is that most of the really good patrollers left a few years ago to make the big bucks as GC's and we're left with only a few who know what they're doing and a bunch of 20something year-olds who are pretty clueless)
Hey Frank, just storm that shit.....get it......storm.
Came through Loveland pass about an hour ago. Snow was coming down pretty nicely. I'd say tomorrow should be decent at A-Basin and LL.
Friday
Resort 6AM 1PM
Basin 4" 4"
BC 4" 6"
Breck 3" 6"
Key 2" 6"
Vail 5" 10"
WP 4" 4"
It was dumping most of the day at Loveland- especially hard when I left around 3:00.
Hope you guys have some good cold weather gear because after this weekend...
heh.
Looks like some snow in the Elks tonight.
And DAMN is this cold!
(for Summit County above 9000)
WEDNESDAY NIGHT...MOSTLY CLOUDY WITH A 20 PERCENT CHANCE OF
SNOW. LOWS 10 BELOW TO 18 BELOW ZERO. NORTHWEST WINDS 15 TO
25 MPH. GUSTS UP TO 45 MPH AFTER MIDNIGHT. WIND CHILL READINGS
35 BELOW TO 45 BELOW ZERO.
that oughtta kill some pine beetles.
^^^^^ My thoughts exactly.
For sure looks chilly the next couple of days. 3-5 of crazy low density snow tonight. Maybe a skiff more on Friday and maybe something more significant on Sun/Mon.
Maybe I should bust out the John Deere one piece for this weekends chilly temps.:fmicon:
fingers crossed for 3-5+ tonight. Now calling 70% chance of snow. We're headed to Vail tomorrow and staying for the free concert later on.
It does. Cold systems without a moisture tap (i.e., have to bring their own moisture) tend to carry less moisture.
Looks like advisory amounts could be met as there is a moist layer at mountaintop level of which the cold air will over run and there are the favorable orographics.
currently puking snow at the Beav.... if this keeps up its on tomorrow.
came home from Summit County around 6 and it was snowing hard in E. Vail. Been puking at the house ever since, about 3 or 4" so far.
I know it will be cold but headed up to Bert for Dawn Patrol before work. Probably looking for just a coupe laps around Lift Gully or HHA. Any snowpack updates from the last day or so?
Looks like mainly small moisture limited storms every couple of days or so thru Jan. The blocking high pressure system in the eastern pacific is not allowing for much of a moisture tap, so this NW flow aloft is having to bring it's own moisture. The small storms help but would be nice for some deeper moisture.
Agreed - skied a few laps this morning at Bert. Cold but very little new snow. LG was stable though...
xoxoxo....much love for ya Rontele.
i actually think your prognostication through the end of the month is tad too conservative, but we'll see...
i like the butthurt, emo angst.
