hell, that's quite a few notches better than the "wear clean underwear - in case you get into an accident" advice.Quote:

no gross-out carnage here, but i dug this old chestnut out of the vaults:

on my first time out in 7 years, got into a bit of a pissing contest w/a coworker, got pretty big air and landed hard on shitty massachusetts hardpack...leg crumpled under me when i tried to walk it off...i'd fractured me pelvis!! no pins, but 5 days in the hospital and a few weeks on crutches and cane and percosset.
gladly that was almost 7 years back, i ski more and harder than i ever did and i'm yet to feel even a tweak of pain from the injury...i credit yoga, chlorophyll and chelated iron...and luck:)
A picture from when they had to take out 2 feet of my small intestines :the_finge
Never let it be said Rune ain't got guts.

edit: thank god I've got this set to 20 replies per page so I don't have to look at that again to see rune's answer. note to self: do NOT open page 4 of this thread again.

Don't really know, but I can guess he's getting ready to snip off the intestines.Quote:

Hi,
Im new to this forum, but I noticed that my severed finger was featured on the first page of this thread, so I thought I would update the photo with a better scan and post some others:

the story of this accident can be found here:
http://www.summitpost.org/trip-repor...y-photos-.html
long story short i pulled a rock off the wall onto myself and it severed my left ring finger and crushed my right forearm muscle. I was alone and had to hike for 3 hours to get out to the highway. You'll find an upfront admission of the mistakes I made in the first paragraph of the narrative.
also, i found the other thread in here about my accident story and had a good laugh at the 'shocker' comment.
btw, they put my finger back on.
Thanks jeffmoore I needed that. Maybe next time I won't click on this thread while I'm eating lunch. :(
Kool! I did something similar when I was 13. Accidentally dropped a cinder block on my left index finger. The whole damn finger had to be rebuilt with the wreckage that remained and I wish that I had simply lost it. The finger's worthless now and goes numb and then painful on cold days which really sucks when running or cycling during the cold of winter. I may end up having it partially amputated.Quote:

That trip report is crazy. The pics of your finger are far worse than the skeeters to me though.
over the last year ive had 4 surgeries each time on both hands. the finger does not bend all the way but it bends some (it was stuck in a straight position for about 9 months). with some amazing micro-surgery i am regaining feeling in the finger, but the circulation is total crap and its cold most of the time. for a while i was thinking, like you, that it would be better to just have it removed, maybe someday if it gets in the way, but ill give it a fighting chance.
on the right hand the motions of opening my fingers and thumb are imparred and my right ring finger droops down due to permanent muscle loss. grasping things is ok though, since those muscle groups werent injured, and that accounts for most of the use of the hands i guess.
and about the accident, the injuries honestly did not hurt that much as i was walking, kind of a constant burning sensation, but those f-ing mosquitos i couldnt fend them off or zone them out, it was completely miserable. i would just scream at them in anger.
Now that I have this polaroid in digi form, here it is. Probably the most destructive 3mph bike crash ever. I endoed, and I tried to brace my fall, but there was a big rock that went straight to my teeth. So, the front tooth was broken and needed a root canal because the root was too damaged and the other teeth needed braces for a couple of months. It took 18 months to finally take care of all the insurance BS, since it fell under medical insurance as an accident.
