Those are great looking Griffs and awesome shot in the snow.
They sure are a shaggy pair, how much stripping do you do? One of the reasons to go with this breed is they are supposedly low shedding but I'm not sure I'm believing that. Do yours shed much or can you control it with stripping/brushing?
It doesn't make a difference at this point, we're commited in all ways to the dog but still curious.

To those blue-bloods of upper class society for whom racial purity is held in high regard, "mongrel" is an insult.

She has the oldest experssions I've ever seen for a ten month old pup...
At times she truly reminds one of a living statue.
They are not a popular breed, and for very good reason. my wife and I are delighted with her personality, but at the same time, see a very high potential for tragedy should the breed fall into ignorant or un-educated hands.
The breed truly deserves respect.

Just out of curiosity Bandogge, why do you train these dogs? For the po-po?
I do indeed, do decoy work for the local city Police K9's once a week.
I also train (Not so much presently) in the dog sports, most involvment in the past has been with Sch. and French Ring.
My main area of experience however, is training personal protection dogs for applicable civilian/ business purposes... Some sentry work, but mostly personal protection.

Ilikesnow, your black lab's face looks just like mine does. That looks like a great pair of dogs you have there! If it weren't so much work, I'd have 4-5 dogs instead of just two!

I was out boating one day and found her on the drive home, seems like she got dumped out in the woods somewhere for no apparent reason. It was up in north western maine, so theres a chance she has a some combination of sled dog in there somewhere. Im guessing shes mostly german shepard/shepard and then something else. Everyone has their own particular recipe for what she might be, we even had some swear she was part corgi based completely on her ears.
If anyone else has an idea please chime in, but for now shes just a mutt.

Hey Adam- another place to look if you're going to adopt a lab (if I remember correctly) is Safe Harbor Lab Rescue in Golden. www.safeharborlabrescue.org We got both of our labs from them, and they're awesome. They've got dogs available for adoption from 4 months to 10 yrs old.

Yeah I call Zippy a Mongrel because she is one and it sounds funny. My best guess is that she is 1/3 German Short-haired pointer, 1/3 Whippet/Greyhound or some sort of fast sight hound, 1/3 pitbull.
She's 1 1/2 years old and about 45 lbs.
She's too fast to get action pictures but here is a try.
