Any maggots interested in beers in Longmont or Boulder on Thurs or Friday? Thinking of Mtn Sun on Thursday, 8ish.
The more important question, where is everyone skiing on Sat? I can give Boulder area maggots a ride since I'm day tripping it up 70 with the rental. Looks like Loveland and Abasin are good bets. Any other beta is appreciated.

I may be up for beers on Thursday in Boulder...although I said I'd have dinner with a friend, can't remember what time she said. If it's early, I'll head up. If not, prolly won't make it. I love Mountain Sun! It'll probably be crowded though.
I'll be skiing at the Basin on Saturday, but I'll be working. I could probably go for a few laps though if people showed up as there isn't much to do in the way of mountain work yet (unless there's been a huge melt since I was there last and we have to turn the knolls into a bamboo garden).
I might be down for some beers on Thursday. Still thinking Mtn. Sun?
As for location. I live NE of Boulder, yet not as far as Longmont on the Diagonal. The traffic can suck at times on the Diag, but I usually miss it getting off at 6. Yet sometimes I just ride my bike and it is all good. Also got a friend who just moved to Longmont and loves it. But coming from the East, I think that any area around here is the shit.
I was thinking of Vail this weekend and on my bike the other day, just not sure which.
Mtn Sun sounds like an overall good place to meet. Just to confirm, is this the place?

Personally, I think the SOuthern Sun is a better place to meet, same beer/food, but more space and less patchoulli wearers. ;)
As for skiing, at Loveland on Saturday is the Corn Harvest, a benefit for the Colorado Avy Info Ctr, $50 gets lift ticket and party (food, beer, shwag, raffle).
I think we'll prolly stick with Mtn Sun, iskbc recommended it and a bunch others chimed in on it. Besides, I like hippa chicks :biggrin:
As for skiing on Sat, we can all discuss Thursday night. I'm still up in the air between Loveland and Abasin. Heard a bunch of mags will be at Abasin, yet the Corn Harvest sounds cool too and I'm always in for a good cause. Also, anyone tailgating? I could probably produce a makeshift cooler and bring brews.

As for service, it's not usually bad at the Southern Sun, but I avoid the Mt Sun so I can't say if the service is different or if we just have different expectations.
This still going on? I'm having dinner with some friends at 6 so we'll see what time that ends. If I don't make it up have a good time. If I do, look for a short chick with brown hair. :)

Well, just got the call back and it's a no go, they're going to keep looking. They asked me on the phone, before I even went out, if I had experience in a certain area and I replied no. Yet, that's the reason why I didn't get picked. They liked everything else about me though. Pretty bummed about it. Almost feels like being dumped...at least I got to play ;)

Bumping this old thread as the wife and I are planning to move out to Longmont from Broomfield in June next year; she just got a good job over there. Lots has changed over there in 10 years. I'm pretty stoked. Hopefully I'll see some of you Longmont mags around!
Longmont has definitely changed, they have a whole foods FFS! And a Mt. Sun outpost! And good bbq! And good authentic mexican.
Plus the Left Hand Brewery and an Ozo coffee house. My favorite!
I'm "down" in Niwot, but close enough to give my two cents.... most of the south and west sides of Longmont are actually really nice. Plenty of good restaurants, breweries, etc. I'm a huge fan of Cyclhops on the corner of Airport and Nelson- great street tacos, good happy hour deals, plus the little bike shop kicks ass (I take all my bikes there for maintenance, Tim and Todd rock).
Plus, you don't have to deal with the R/E prices and bullshit of living in Boulder, but you have basically the same access to everything. Having Hall Ranch 10 minutes away is nice too, if you're cool and ride bikes. ;)
Homebrewd has lived in Longmont for a few years and recently bought a house there. PM him. He likes drinking beers and talking about skiing.
Longmont breweries are good in my experience. Big fan of Grossenbart. Nice little farmers market. Not a bad little old commerical area downtown too.
Longmont has changed a lot over the years. The growth on the west side of town has been pretty crazy and the amenities are getting much better, though you still need to head to boulder for a decent outdoors store. Traffic through town sucks ass and housing prices are out of control. Access to RMNP for BC skiing is a breeze and the beer selection is pretty damn nice.
