I guess I'll just take the heavy wet pig slop and be happy... that shit is scary!

Anyone here in the Okanagan? I live in Kelowna but do most of my skiing out in the Apex area. Looking for touring partners...
Kamloops for me, looking for partners as well! If I'm going to drive three hours it probably isn't going to be to Apex though...
Just checking in! Thanks to all who have been getting out and posting some early season stoke! First year I have missed the early season turns, but work is slowing and its time to ski. Looking to spend lots of time at the Northern end of highway 23. Skier of the Hood, spent some time on the other side of the blue bridge last year as well, let me know if you are into heading out that way... Anyone else into big days midweek in the area, I'm always game. Cabin in Mica also available as basecamp...
good info from Joe Lammers...

What's the Malakwa Rd being plowed to this year?
Mmmm a cabin in mica sounds awesome. Too bad I'm in the Mac for another two weeks.
Come January I will probably make a trip or two up there.
From a avy course up at Monashee pow this morning.
"Rained. 3 cm crust forming at 2000m. suspect the CR goes to at least 2400m. Was raining this morning at 1600m, but has since turned to snow. Looks like 10-15cm today over the CR, then -20. HS = 140 to 200 cm @ 2000m."
Will be interesting tomorrow at the gorge, maybe I should dig up my old race skis?
Any word from revy resort? Trying to convince a friend not to waste his $$$ and wait in line in -20c.
To put it simply, two days ago, it was looking epic. Now, not so much. I'll probably head up around 10 and hope for the best.
Two words, man: Media preview!
They should have had you out there on Wed.
Bummer about Revy. I hit Silver Star opener Thursday and figured that to be any good Revy would need the whole new layer of snow on top that they had been forecasting. Now that post freeze snow pretty much petered out to not much. Too bad coulda been great
Been watching Fidelity and Rogers Pass temps. At 2200m and 1300m max temps have been about 0 deg to -4. It's a roll of the dice whether its rain or snow up there. These are just second hand obs. Will relay first hand when they come in
Stay home , cold , crust .
Cold as fack but no one there and pow on stoke chair. Ate shit just sliding down to stoke from gondi for first run. Felt like bruised a few ribs. Good reminder that coverage isn't the same as last spring duh
We also enjoyed opening day at Revelstoke. Despite the extremely cold temperature I thought it was rather good. Coverage was pretty solid on the upper mountain and we had some nice turns. Avoiding frostbite was the real challenge (I don't think I've ever put on so many layers) and the coverage/ski quality started to get questionable below ~1600m or so. Did anyone ski the pass today? I fear lamothe did...
Yep - it wasn't too bad up there today. The good thing about opening day is that most people still don't know where they're going, so you can find good snow even if you show up two hours after first chair. But damn, that was cold. I only lasted five runs, which is more than lots of people I know.
Ended up hitting Big White. They had a real good opener skiing boot top pow all day. Not much crust. Fucking cold
Lol I ended up having a great time once I figured out what was where . I ended up going home for lunch when north bowl opened cam back it was closed, glad she's open
Boot deep powder on top of a supportive crust at Kootenay Pass.
Gorge was pretty nasty and cold. About 3-4cm thick rain crust with 5cm's of blower on top. Interesting ski, was actually pretty fun trying not to tear my knees apart.
ok I laughed , only cause your knees survived

last week come baaaack
Yeah, before Thursday it would have been excellent. Great coverage. The snow under the deathcrust was great still.
