Anyway, ignoring the retards, if you can get a good deal on a used Rolex (box and papers not mandatory), then it can be a reasonable investment to get a few bucks back some day. Many others that also fit the catagory depending on (reasonable) acquisition price are Breitling, (maybe) Omega, Cartier etc, but for a quick cash sale, usually Rolex comes out on top.

If you do it right, you pay wholesale or below, then, when the time comes, you find someone to pay a higher amount, below retail but above wholesale. Thanks, I went with the Caliber S Regatta. The manual is thicker than most so it's possible this watch is smarter than me.

I think I'm addicted to blue faces as my wife pointed out that it looks very similar to my Submariner.

Both my Breitlings are blue faced, and I was about to get the Yachtmaster in blue, but changed it to a white face as the blue wasn't as bright as the Submariner. Love the older two-toned Submariners - not so much the new one with the ceramic dial.

I may be mistaken, but Rolex still uses the same movement in many of their watches that they have for the past 50 years. Yet they continue to raise prices even though there's been no R&D since before I was born. Another reason why I moved away from that brand.

I love my Bremont (which I bought used for significantly less than retail [NEVER, ever pay full retail for a watch, car, hooker, etc.!], plus no tax and insured shipping was included in the price), but it doesn't keep time any better than my two $250-350 mechanical watches (A Bernhardt and a Techne (sp?)). As mentioned earlier in this thread, It's something that I bought it for myself, for my own satisfaction.

And I do need these for time-keeping. I actually use them, and rely on them, for this purpose.

I eschew carrying a phone around, except for those times when I expecting an important call or there are work-related issues going on. I can't imaging having a phone whilst skiing, running, backpacking, etc. Who was that? Iscariot? You need a phone with special apps for kayacking? How about watching the position of the sun? Monitoring the direction of the wind? Slaughtering small animals and reading their entrails? Pussy.
